In a nutshell, we need Montolivo as a back-up for Pirlo.

None of our current CMs can do that role. They lack the creativity and the ability to control the pace.

It's a good thought actually. Resting Pirlo once in a while isn't a bad idea.
Montolivo would adapt fast to our style too. We really need him in summer.
