Ricardo Oliveira kidnap drama Wednesday 4 October, 2006

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Milan star Ricardo Oliveira’s sister has been kidnapped in Brazil – the second case of this kind to strike the club after Kakha Kaladze.

News agencies ANSA and ‘O Globo’ report that two masked men broke into the Sao Paolo house of Maria de Lourdes Silva de Oliveira, tied up her husband and eight-year-old son before leaving with the 35-year-old woman.

No ransom request has yet been received, but according to local police, the main suspect is the couple’s 14-year-old son.

He has been repeatedly sentenced to a correctional facility for links to drug trafficking and the husband pointed out he had already threatened her.

This is the eighth kidnap in Brazil that has involved the family member of a famous football player. The others in recent months have been Michael Anderson Pereira da Silva, Robinho, Kleber, Rogerio, Luis Fabiano, Marinho and Grafite. All the kidnap victims were released.

Ricardo Oliveira joined Milan from Betis Seville in the summer and scored on his Serie A debut against Lazio.

This is the second time that a Rossoneri player has been forced to confront the kidnap of a close relative.

Kakha Kaladze’s younger brother was abducted in Georgia on May 23 2001. 21-year-old Levan’s body was found in February.
----------------------------------------------------------------

This is so awfull for him, hopefully everything will be ok.
All the best for him and his family.

Yeah he was killed & it was horrible. what goes through a persons mind to do such a thing is beyond me.

Khaladze even threatened to revoke his georgian citizenship & play for ukraine when the officials took their time with the investigation.

thats really sad when people get kidnapped for their brothers fame. just shows the level of desperation these people live with when they feel that this is their best chance of a good life

there's no excuse for these things boz. no matter how bad you got it, it's not a reason, always there's someone who has it worse.

i am not excusing their behaviour at all mate, anyone who pulls that sort of stunt is despicable. especially when they have no intention of letting them live

that shit just boils my blood. its good to see him being strong and still playing football. You could only imagine what Micheal Jordan went through after his father was killed, if basketball was the reason his father was murdered he didnt want it anymore. Thats what happens when the price of fame gets too high.

 OMG! I hope that Maria is safe & that they find her alive. My best wishes to her & her family.

I'm very sorry to hear about Levan Kaladze's fate too.

It is sort of, at least in the favela. And although Ricardo's loan can takes his family out of the favela, he can't take the favela out of his family. The fact that the main suspect is the couples older boy is just plain sick.

I didn't know about kaladze. I'm speechless.

Is It me or this always happening in Brazil?
its really sad but these kinds of things always happen in brasil, people with power/money/fame are seen as cash cows to be milked and it is usually the innocent family members that suffer. but the saddest part is that the government doesnt really care to help unless you pay them enough to care.
