The Bianconeri won this season’s title following 38 games without defeat (23 victories and 15 draws). These 38 encounters have beaten the previous record of 28 useful results which led Fabio Capello’s side to the championship in 2005/06. His team remained unbeaten from the 11th to the 38th fixture, collecting 18 victories and 10 draws in the process.
Established, and still running, is the 39 game unbeaten record in the club’s history, including the 38 games from the 2011/12 championship season and the 2-2 draw with Napoli that brought the 2010/11 campaign to a close. The previous record was 30 games without defeat, which ran between 2005/06 and 2007/08 (2006/07 in Serie B).
As far as the defence is concerned, the total of 20 goals conceded makes the team’s rearguard the strongest in the division. An already impressive backline became even more prolific in the second round of fixtures, shipping almost half the amount of goals conceded in the first half of the season. The Bianconeri kept a clean sheet in 11 of their 17 games played after the opening round, conceding just one goal in each of the remaining six encounters.
