Our goals are different, teams are not at the same stage every season so there is no point in selecting another team as the benchmark. They just won 3 consecutive CL trophies, we are focusing on winning one in the next 2-3 seasons. That has to be our goal after 7 consecutive scudetti. When you're always winning the CL you don't have to do anything other than spend your money on prospects.
Besides, it's not like we are throwing all our eggs in one basket. We have signed many younger players in the last 5 seasons. Alex Sandro (24), Dybala (21), Caldara (22), Pjaca (21), Bentancur (20), Bernardeschi (23), Cancelo (24), Perin (25), Can (24). That's over €200m on those players, and I've not even touched on all the Italian U21 investments during that period, which are longer term projects. With Serie A there'll always be a case for more experienced players, and you'll get 4-6 high level seasons out of 29-30 year old players, but the signings of Bonucci and Ronaldo were not for that.
