Yeah, football would be soooo much fun to watch...

How bout a sprinkler system near the touch lines. Deposit $1 for every squirt!
I'd drench Totti soo bad we won't be able to see if he spat at somebody :D

I feel this thread deserves a longer reply than I have time to write at the moment, but that'll have to wait.

I attend live football matches all the time. I'm a member of the supporter's committee at my local club, and I have links to the National League Supporters' Association (a newish but fairly substantial group representing the fans of the Irish clubs and the national team).

These clubs are always obsessed with attendances. The average top flight club here gets about 1,500 people to a game - peanuts by Juve standards. However, the problems with attendances are the same. Access and facuilties, fan culture and ticket prices.

Now, we're not in a position to relocate the SDA to somewhere other than the wilderness far from Torino, nor can we pad the seats and add a nice restaurant, nor do anything about the ticket prices.

That leaves fan culture. The most enjoyable part of fan culture for me is the songs.

Erm, sorry to cut this so abruptly short, but the boss just called for me to attend a meeting now. :eyepatch: Anyhow, talk to ye.

Interesting read Greg. And all very true.

I have been to the Delle Alpi only once in my life (sometime this year) and I have been a fan of Juve for 20 years now, so where does that leave me?

I can't attend matches all the time, but I am a proud member of something great and good. The world has changed and the internet and television are now an all pervasive part of our lives, so clubs have to learn to live with that fact and adapt to it.

I was told by a cousin in London that going to Stamford Bridge to watch games is no longer as appealing since you almost always know the result anyway....

Will add more as time goes on.

You guys are totally getting what I am talking about here.

The problem for a club like Juve is that the local crowd that can make the matches represents only a small fraction of the club's supporters at any given match. Which has a downside on club dependencies for attendance, a downside for fan participation, a downside for giving the team a morale boost during matches, etc. But with Juve it's not about a downside as much as there is a huge, untapped upside that can feasibly be connected more readily with the changes in global communications.

Maybe not all of that is solvable. But Juve has a huge, largely untapped resource in people like all of us... who wish we could attend every game but don't have the intercontental flight tickets to do it every week.

Guys, in a few years, I'll have my comercial license. A free ride to Torino, promise. All I need in exchange is some vCash from time to time, and rep here and there. :D

I am up for any initiative we can put through. I know that many of us independently/with friends do travel to Torino to watch a game every now and then.

We could select one date well ahead in the future (sometimes next season perhaps) and attempt to actually gather together and spend a weekend there.

Another thing I was thinking about- get some kind of an official recognition from Juventus FC. As far as I know there is still no official Juventus Fan Club?
Very good idea, but only in the fantasy world for me...many of the members are very far from Torino, and I forexample,am something about 900kms from Torino, but never been there....for the people of serbia and montenegro it is expensive to travel, and by the way I will never get the visa.:cry:

    Good topic Greg...

I have thought about this a lot, since I first joined.

I often wonder if the Ultra groups that are at every game know we exist (I have asked Paul, and he says yes), or even the managerial section of the club (would they care ??)

We are unique, as we are the largest english-speaking internet group in the world, that supports Juve

I have thought about planning a trip to Italy, and possibly meeting up with a few ppl from here. To be honest, my family is from Central Italy, and Sicily, so the ONLY reason I would have to see Torino is for a Juve game.

I may wait until the renovations are done (if I can wait that long !!), but I will get there in the near future...guaranteed !!!!!

I think that seeing a game in person is second to none !! Watching Juve play in New York, live, and seeing Trez score was amazing !!!
