Lippi is too old school. Adopts football that does not work in the Modern game. Granted Allegri is not experienced but he had Cagliari playing quick tempo, possesion football. How anybody would want a manager who excludes any decent attacking talent from Italy is beyond me.
screw the modern game, can we just get the basics done first, this was why i was pushing for claudio gentile after failing to land hiddink, old school is exactly what we need right now, a manager that will teach these amateurs how the play the f*cking game, let alone playing it well.

You don't think we're in desperate need of wingers to our game? You don't think we lack that option on the flanks? I don't know about you but I'm fed up with seeing our central midfielders dictate our game.
If we get good enough fullbacks who can offer alot of width then having wingers is not needed. A creative CM is what we need.

Unless we sign Maicon and Kolarov, then maybe.
There is a few fullbacks who can actually pull off a 4-3-1-2 perfectly. Not even Maicon and Dani Alves play alone on their flanks. Maicon has Etoo on his flank while Dani Alves has Messi.

And if we get two good wingers + Diego we'll more than fine offensively.

I wonder if Clint will play some of our youth next game?
I figured it out. The Reserves are on a tour of Spain and so their wasn't available cover for left back with Insua and Aurellio out. Apparently the kid is a superstar on the U-18 team.

Anyway he broke Owen's record. So there's a point for Rafa.:D

And I doubt it.

We have the right players to play the 4-2-3-1 and thats the formation I would like to see us play with, I just personally think your being too dismissive of the 4-3-1-2.

I've always been against formations without wingers and after this disastrous season I'm against those formations even more.

I think it's more important to have players that offer formational versatility that it is to have players that can play a single formation.

Any formation can work well if the players have an understanding and play the proper positions to be successful. The issue is what happens when teams begin to figure out ways to stop them.

Lippi would probably want to keep Cannavaro and Grosso as starters..
I am not advocating Lippi, but hypothetically, if it were between the 2 (Lippi and Allegri), I would choose Lippi. Juve cannot afford another season without CL, and in my eyes Lippi is a much safer bet for achieving this goal.

Again, with the right players, a system like the 4-3-1-2 can work wonders. Just look at Inter. The problem is we don't have proper attacking full-backs and creative players centrally in midfield, so it doesn't work.

Yeah, but some formations are outdated and don't seem to work much anymore.

Three-man defenses seem to be going that way.

Any formation would do wonders with the right players. But personally, I prefer the formations with wingers. I'd rather see us play a 4-2-3-1 with the right players than a 4-3-1-2 with the right players. Wingers are too important not to have in todays football. Just look at the most teams in Europe, they all play with wingers except for us. Barcelona, Real, Milan, Inter, United, Chelsea, Bayern Munchen etc etc.

Inter played the 4-2-3-1 in most of their games, especially in the playoffs in the CL.

Thats because playing without wingers in Spain and England is almost unheard of.
