Not Allegri. I would prefer a lot of managers above Lippi, but Allegri is not experienced and i'm not sure we can judge him in a small time.
Lippi is too old school. Adopts football that does not work in the Modern game. Granted Allegri is not experienced but he had Cagliari playing quick tempo, possesion football. How anybody would want a manager who excludes any decent attacking talent from Italy is beyond me.

It all depends on how far along Broughton is in selling the club. Broughton has said that the sale of the club will no be made public until it is final, though Rafa will be kept in the loop.

If Rafa stays it's probably because it's going to be a short sale. Though I doubt he'll get much of a transfer kitty this summer.

Allegri's style might be attractive but i think the club should not try any more risks. As i said in the Future coach thread, Blanc/DD/Prandelli/Pellegrini should be the options to be considered.

His tactics suit the italian game much better. I could see him doing much better there than in the Premier League.
I know what you mean, and his style is more suitable for the italian league. But he has a 4 year contract worth 4m a season, the fans love him, he'll have money to spend after liverpool get investors, I just cant see the appeal for him, considering were both in the same boat, and his family is settled in england. Its out of the frying pan and into the fire..

Simply not true. Juve has a much greater chance of winning silwerware.

The main differences are the secure ownership we have in Juve. This means stable environmen, guranteed funds. Liverpool owners have declared thay they want to sell, but this might take up to two years and it is possible that noone wants to pay the asking price.

In relation to the ownership situation, there is the economic situation. In poll Benitez has been asked to perform balanced transfers the last 18 months. That would not be the case in juve.

Squad wise they are very equal. We have a core of :

Buffon, Chiellini, Marchisio, Melo, Giovinco, Diego

They have Reina, Gerrard, Torres and Masch, Johnson

You could add Skrtel, Kuyt and Agger, but we also have Sissoko, Candreva, Iaquinta. Truth be told, they prob have an advantage on the core players, but they also have a harder time keepin them I think. For both teams they have good core, but needs a lot to be done.

Unless Liverpool gets a sheik or oil magnet, they will not have the funds to win silverware in the future. Juve will.

Dressing room unrest. He seems to be on collision course with some of the players. With even Gerrard showing his displeasure.

Liverpool (like us) have quite a way to go to be really competetive. I think as things are right now, we are able to get there faster. :bigscarf:
I dont think we have more of a chance than liverpool. In my eyes the gulf in class between us and inter is far greater than the gulf between liverpool and chelsea...

If we continue to think small time we will stay small time, we need a proven coach, not a hopeful shot.
Guys like Lippi and Sacchi weren't exactly proven when Juve and Milan went for them.

However, there aren't any outstanding up-and-coming coaches, as far as I can tell, so going to a proven one is the best option.

He'd get us into the champions league places though. There's no way we'd be in this situation if he was in charge

There are not many top coaches around. I'd like us to go after Capello if we fail with Benitez.
Yes please!!!

Come on, you don't need to tell me the 'everyone starts somewhere' argument :D But referring to my next post, this really isn't an ideal environment for a younger coach.

I'm sure he would call up Cassano if they didn't have a history, same with Miccoli. It's not as if he said they aren't talented. Balotelli and Giovinco aren't realistic options at all.

At least at club level he'd have the freedom to select players from abroad. He has been trying to use the 4-3-3/4-2-3-1 for Italy in fairness.

Wasn't Allegri just fired from Cagliari? Look, we need a good and experienced coach. We've been fucking around with the likes of Allegri for too long now. And Allegri is extremely attached to the 4-3-1-2, we need wingers in our game.
