I usually trust the Times and The Guardian when it comes to football, Red...but this doesn't seem Right:
"Beppe Marotta, the newly appointed sporting director of the Serie A club, has made it clear that he will pursue an Italian should Benítez not reach an agreement with them in the coming days, with Cesare Prandelli, the Fiorentina coach, his favoured alternative. "

I trust Mark enough to believe he is coming, but not yet...was this a journalistic error or have I missed something???

I don't trust the English Press with regards to what is happening at the Juve end, or in Italy generally.

I'm only really interested in what they have to say about the relationship between Benitez and Liverpool, as they should have good sources in that direction.

FACTS
1. Six teams are above Liverpool in the league. Only three of those clubs (Chelsea, City and Spurs) have spent more money than Liverpool in Rafa Benitez’s six seasons at the club.
2. Six teams are above Liverpool in the league. Only two of those clubs (Chelsea and City) have a larger net spend than Liverpool in Rafa Benitez’s six seasons at the club.
3. Everton are four points behind Liverpool, but Benitez has spent £147,129,500 than them in the last six years, and has a net spend of £85,649,500 more.
4. Benitez has spent £55,580,000 more than Sir Alex Ferguson in the past six years. In that time, Liverpool have won one European Cup, one FA Cup and one UEFA Super Cup. United have won three league titles, one European Cup, three League Cups and one FIFA World Club Cup.
5. Even if you imagine United didn’t make £68m on Cristiano Ronaldo, Liverpool would still have a net spend of £8m more than United.

Conclusion: We should sign Sir Alex Ferguson. :juventus:

If Rafa doesn't sign is there any chance that they'll wait until after the WC and go after Lippi? At this stage it seems Rafa is the best of a pretty average group

I would be surprised to see us without a coach after the WC. The board seem to want to sign a new coach right away so that they can begin plans for a renewal, this rush may end up hurting us in the end if we settle for average instead of waiting.

That's my fear. Not that I would be too upset if we signed Rafa but I wouldn't want to miss out on someone better (and cheaper) just because we were in a rush

Same, but considering the group we are looking at I would be happy with Prandelli.

Prandelli would be great. I was a big fan of his before we appointed Ciro. He hasn't had a great season with Fiorentina and some might say that he's not Juve Material yet but he does have a good relationship with his players and who was Lippi before Juve?

I would be happy to get Rafa but I'm worried that after he spurns us the board will scramble to sign Allegri.

Not that Allegri is a bad manager, but I would prefer to avoid gambling on another rookie to step up to his first big job after Ferrara.
