Well it's been some time since I opened a thread, and after the relative success of Denco's "riddle me this" I thought I could carry on in this direction by testing your knowledge of football, as well as that of the very team you support. So hereafter are a few questions I have thought of.

I) Juventus questions

1) What are the two nicknames (one flattering, the other less so) that Gianni Agnelli coined for Roby Baggio ?
2) What was Luciano Moggi’s profession before he became the Godfather of Italian football ?
3) Which referee has allegedly been a president of a Juventus fan club ?
4) Which Juve player was nicknamed "bello di notte", i.e. "beautiful by night", a hint to the fact that his talent shone most often during night – read European – games ?
5) To which player did Gianni Agnelli refer when he said these words : "we bought him for a slice of bread, and we put caviar on it"?

II) General questions

1) What was the real profession of Pak Do Ik, the amateur North Korean footballer who scored the winning goal that humiliatingly sent Italy out of WC 1966 ?
2) What game has been referred to as "the battle of Santiago" ?
3) What physical trait did Hector Castro bear, the scorer of the 4-2 with which Uruguay beat Argentina in the first edition of the Rimet Cup?
4) For what reason did India withdraw from WC 1950 ?
5) Which famous goalkeeper refused to invite Maradona to participate in his testimonial game?

Can't bother thinking of more questions right now so let's see how you cope with these.

libero, where a person from lithuanian speaking only english and russian could get info on juve's history? remember quite some time ago someone made fun of juve fans that they dont know who causio was. i was one of them. so i decided to look up for something and i couldnt find anything that wasnt in italian. it was a brief search but still its rather hard to know much about history if you dont speak italian.

II) General questions

1) What was the real profession of Pak Do Ik, the amateur North Korean footballer who scored the winning goal that humiliatingly sent Italy out of WC 1966 ?

Artist of some type?

2) What game has been referred to as "the battle of Santiago" ?

Chile - Italy '02.

3) What physical trait did Hector Castro bear, the scorer of the 4-2 with which Uruguay beat Argentina in the first edition of the Rimet Cup?

He only had one hand.

4) For what reason did India withdraw from WC 1950 ?

They were told they'd have to wear boots!

5) Which famous goalkeeper refused to invite Maradona to participate in his testimonial game?

Had to google this one: from the great one's autobiography:

"'The Thermos-head got cross because of my hand-goal. What about the other one, Shilton, didn't you see that one? He didn't invite me to his testimonial ... oh, my heart bleeds! How many people go to a goalkeeper's testimonial anyway? A goalkeeper's!'"

I'll leave the Juve questions to the real Juve fans. :D

Well done. A few precisions though :

    2) Chile-Italy 62.

    3) Hector Castro was missing half an arm, if not a whole one.

But Pak Do Ik was not an artist. An artist like Ronaldinho could have used his services however..

Fli : fair point though I'd expect there to be quite a few books or documents about Juve in English too. Surely someone like denco must have got his knowledge of the club from somewhere...

I'm not the best Juventus fan out there (doh) and you really dont get much info on Juventus in Msia, so I only managed to answer two. If its even correct.

    1) What are the two nicknames (one flattering, the other less so) that Gianni Agnelli coined for Roby Baggio ?

    "Raffaello" and "Coniglio Bagnato" ?

    4) Which Juve player was nicknamed "bello di notte", i.e. "beautiful by night", a hint to the fact that his talent shone most often during night – read European – games ?

    Boniek?

I've heard of the alleged referee thing but never remembered the name, but am totally clueless on Moggi's profession before Juventus.

Libero, If you wanna do a quiz to test peoples knowledge, why not do it in a way so as people arent jus showing their skills in the world of Google.

    Good thinking.

Btw someone make a damn quiz that isnt all about 70s/80s Italy.

That said cant really blame the Juve fans who dont know about it/or care about it. Sure its the history of the club but who the hell cares, we werent even alive then. Learn something more worthwhile.

can someone tell me moggi's job before juventus. really curious. and why is it that some people act as if not knowing so much bout juventus is bad? its not that you dont put up an effort. you just truly dont have an exposure to the extra facts that google doesnt offer. at all.

Actually what would be really cool is if someone made a website, the internet sucks. Someone make a real website with real research material on the topic, since your all so damned anal about it.

Paul I'll look at your quiz. I was just tired and bored and came up with a few questions whose answers can indeed often be found on google. Unfortunately.

BAH : correct. Pak Do Ik, The pinko dentist that ridiculed the cocky Ities. I think this is a worthwhile anecdote, though of course you can also cut your hair à la grunge sloth on the dole instead and think you're cool..

Sehnsu : actually I currently have the same tools as most ppl here. All my football references (i.e. books, documents or "experts") I left in Italy.

Most people can easily answer your quiz on this one, I'm talking bout those 'non-google' facts. Try living in the SE Asia for once. I think its unfair we get treated like the 'inferior' ones, for one, the most Italian football thing you can ever get here is just the football. There are NO reference books documents or whatever. NADA. Second, most information most people get from Juventus is if they've lived in Italy and it's their common knowledge, living here however most likely you'd memorize the English Football history as if you grow up here theres absolutely no mention of Italian football. If you can give me an alternative other than books, the internet and what is practiced here to indulge myself in Juventus knowledge, please do so.
