Programs generate errors at launch (1 Viewer)

My computer is acting weird- as I try to open most programs, I get an error message that a program "encountered a problem and had to close". This applies to MSN, AIM, Internet Explorer, MS Outlook, and some other programs. Word, Excel, Trilian and some other work fine.

This is an error signature that I get for Outlook:

Appname: outlook.exe
ModName: shdocvw.dll
fDebug: 0
Offset: 0002fe1d

Anyone knows what this is about?

All I care about is my Outlook contact list. Any way to fish that out without launching the program itself?

Any help would be appreciated.

For that Outlook contact list; you could try digging through the C:\Programme Files\Outlook Express folder. There should be a file there... I had to pull out a similar list once at work but that was on Windows98 so I'm not sure if that still goes...

I tried that actually, but Office 2003 has just one directory, where everything is mixed up. No luck there...

I don't know I am just speaking out aloud here, but why don't you try copying Outlook files on another computer that has the same version of Outlook??

    Ok, I got it solved.

If anyone's interested- if you're using Windows XP, your address book is stored at
    C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR NAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
