Queen's "The Show must Go On"
from the album "Innuendo" (1991)

The reason why I find them profound is because when you read the lyrics, it seems like Freddie Mercury was resigned to his fate that he was going to die soon, and it reads like a good-bye letter.

Queen
Innuendo (1991)
The Show Must Go On

Empty spaces - what are we living for
Abandoned places - I guess we know the score
On and on, does anybody know what we are looking for...
Another hero, another mindless crime
Behind the curtain, in the pantomime
Hold the line, does anybody want to take it anymore
The show must go on,
The show must go on
Inside my heart is breaking
My make-up may be flaking
But my smile still stays on.
Whatever happens, I'll leave it all to chance
Another heartache, another failed romance
On and on, does anybody know what we are living for?
I guess I'm learning, I must be warmer now
I'll soon be turning, round the corner now
Outside the dawn is breaking
But inside in the dark I'm aching to be free
The show must go on
The show must go on
Inside my heart is breaking
My make-up may be flaking
But my smile still stays on
My soul is painted like the wings of butterflies
Fairytales of yesterday will grow but never die
I can fly - my friends
The show must go on
The show must go on
I'll face it with a grin
I'm never giving in
On - with the show -
I'll top the bill, I'll overkill
I have to find the will to carry on
On with the -
On with the show -
The show must go on...

Fade to Black - Metallica.

Life it seems will fade away
Drifting further everyday
Getting lost within myself
Nothing matters no one else
I have lost the will to live Simply nothing more to give
There is nothing more for me
Need the end to set me free

Things not what they used to be Missing one inside of me
Deadly loss this cant be real
Cannot stand this hell i feel
Emptiness is filling me To the point of agony
Growing darkness taking dawn
I was me but now, hes gone

No one but me can save myself, but its too late
Now i cant think, think why i should even try

Yesterday seems as though it never existed
Death greets me warm, now i will just say goodbye
Goodbye

anything in italian?
A recent one:

Non me lo so spiegare - Tiziano Ferro

Un po’ mi manca l’aria che tirava
O semplicemente la tua bianca schiena..nananana
E quell’orologio non girava
Stava fermo sempre da mattina a sera.
come me lui ti fissava

Non melo so spiegare
Io no me lo so spiegare

When the smoke is going down - The Scorpions

Just when you make your way back home
I find some time to be alone
I go to see the place once more
Just like a thousand nights before
I climb the stage again this night
’cause the place seems still alive
When the smoke is going down

This is the place where I belong
I really love to turn you on
I’ve got your sound still in my ear
While your traces disappear
I climb the stage again this night
’cause the place seems still alive
When the smoke is going down

I climb the stage again this night
’cause the place seems still alive
When the smoke is going down
When the smoke is going down
When the smoke is going down

plus the music of the song is great

Horatio G. Spafford wrote this song on the way to visit the site of the shipwreck in which he lost his wife and daughter:

It Is Well With My Soul

When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,
Let this blest assurance control,
That Christ has regarded my helpless estate,
And hath shed His own blood for my soul.

My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought!
My sin, not in part but the whole,
Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!

For me, be it Christ, be it Christ hence to live:
If Jordan above me shall roll,
No pang shall be mine, for in death as in life
Thou wilt whisper Thy peace to my soul.

But, Lord, ‘tis for Thee, for Thy coming we wait,
The sky, not the grave, is our goal;
Oh trump of the angel! Oh voice of the Lord!
Blessèd hope, blessèd rest of my soul!

And Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight,
The clouds be rolled back as a scroll;
The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend,
Even so, it is well with my soul.

I love the part in bold

System of a Down - Chop Suey (2001)

(wake up)
grab a brush and put on a little make up
hide the scars to fade away the shakeup
(hide the scars to fade away the shakeup)
why'd you leave the keys up on the table
here you go create another fable
you wanted to
grab a brush and put on a little makeup
you wanted to
hide the scars to fade away the shakeup
you wanted to
why'd you leave the keys up on the table
you wanted to
why i dont think you trust in my self righteous suicide
i cry when angels deserve to die

father father father father
father into your hand i command my spirit
father into your hand why have you forsaken me
in your eyes forsaken me
in your thoughts forsaken me
in your heart forsaken me ohh
trust in my self righteous suicide
i cry when angels deserve to die
in my self righteous suicide
i cry when angels deserve to die

Really?
Yes, I've read so. The song is about suicide, but Het found inspiration for it after somebody stole his modded-Marshall amphead. He tried to get it back but never did. He never found a Marshall that sounded as good, so after that he switched to Mesa. That's why he uses Marshall on the first records, Mesa on the others.

(It Girl. Rag Doll.)

Drag him out the window
Dragging out your dead
Singing I miss you
Snakes & ladders flip the lid out pops the cracker smacks you in the
head knifes you in the neck kicks you in the teeth steel toe caps takes
all your credit cards step up get the gunge
Get the eggs get the flan in the face the flan in the face the flan
in the face
Dance you ****er dance you ****er don't you dare
Don't you dare don't you
Flan in the face
Take it with the love its given take it with a pinch of salt take it
to the taxman
Let me back let me back I promise to be good don't look in the mirror
at the face you don't recognize
Help me, call the doctor, put me inside put me inside put me inside
put me inside put me inside
I keep the wolf from the door but he calls me up calls me on the phone
tells me all the ways that he's gonna mess me up
Steal all my children if I don?t pay the ransom & I'll never see them
again if I squeal to the cops...
Walking like a giant cranes & with my X ray eyes I strip you naked in
a
Tight little world & are you on the list?
Stepford wives who are we to complain?
Investments & dealers. Investments & dealers
Cold wives & mistresses.
Cold wives & Sunday papers city boys in First Class don?t know we're
born just know
Someone else is gonna come & clean it up
Born & raised for the job
Someone always does I wish you'd get up go over get up go over &
turn this tape off

Anyways, one of my favourites:

He got game - Public Enemy

Chorus:

It might feel good
it might sound a little somethin'
but damn the game if it don't mean nothin
what is game who got game
where's the game in life behind the game behind the game
I got game
she's got game
we got game
they got game
he got game
it might feel good
or sound a little somethin
but **** the game if it ain't saying nothin

Chuck D:

if man is the father the son is the center of the earth
in the middle of the universe
then why is this verse coming six times rehearsed
I don't freestyle much but write 'em like such (word)
amongst times controlled by the screen
what does it all mean all this shit I'm seeing
human beings screaming vocal javelins
sign of the local nigga unravelling
my wonderin' got ass wonderin'
where Christ is in all this crisis
hating satan never knew what nice is
check the paper while I bet on ices
keep more than your eye can see and ears can hear
year by year all the sense disappears
nonsense preserves prayers laced with fear
beware the two triple o is near

Stephen Stills:

there is something happening here
what it is ain't exactly clear
there's a man with a gun over there
tellin' me I got to beware
it's time to stop children what's that sound
everybody look what's going down

Chuck D:

thought of that millenium just be killing them
it scary like lies buried in a library
when did state pen correct anything
when piles of us still be catchin' the bus
when stacks of cash packed in laundramats
pay the preachers back where the teachers at
I ain't even gotta ask it
whose underpaid and got fouled at the basket
I can't blame the envy at who be getting all the benjis
and taking them grants for granted
last I checked pyramids wasn't built like projects
on them government checks
modern day thugs ain't got no guts
pardon the expression under governor nuts
last time in a church be the last time in a church
dead pledge allegiance to cd's and movies
leaving reality believing in fantasy
bleeding fatalaties too many formalities
prayers laced with fear
beware the two trip zero is here

Chorus

anything "old".
kinda like "iris- Biagio Antonacci"

u heard that?
Not familiar with that one in particular. I know the following though: Buona sera signorina, Nel blu dipinto di blu, Dove sarai domani, Canzone Italiana, Non succedera più.

But I'm not sure if I would put their lyrics in this category (profound). I mean, the songs themselves have a big sentimental value but that's about it.

Well, except probably Dipinto di blu!
