we have a problem because there are not many young star defenders available anymore.

kompany, rodriguez, chivu, barzagli all come to mind for centre back.

me personally, i would like kompany and maybe chivu if he stayed healthy. rodriguez is a very good player as well.

well, we have soo many players on loan who could bring us lots of cash, so i dont think that money would be a problem for us.

like Don said both chivu and barzagli could be very costfull, and i dont think barzagli is consistant enough to play with juve, and he could be the same as legro.

Chivu is a true class, however his injuries are a concern

I want Puyol, plain and simple!

He has the makings of the modern Maldini.

I dunno about Barzagli personally, he seems like he could be another Ferrari or even worse, Leggro. He's done ok but not spectacular; we've seen better defenders go down the drain.

Yes but we have not the money for him.

    Zambrotta Canna Thuram Puyol

    AMAZING...
Yes, it would be amazing. But I would prefer Puyol to play centre. I want him to rotate with Canna-Thuram.

We could sell our loan players to fund this transfer.

I don´t see this happening. gallas is a big option, specially now after he said that after this season he would like to try another league. Barcelona seem pretty keen on him though

Gallas would be a very good buy indeed. I think chivu would be hard to get, but what abotu Mexes? i know he hasnt done much for roma, but he is a good defender and under Capello, he could really flourish.

In saying that, i think just about any young defender will be able to flourish under Capello.

Waiting for Gladstone to start playing as well...should be interesting.

Gallas and Bonera/Barzagli would be my choice, even if Gallas is wanted by Milan and Barca. He is one of the great Defenders who isn't too satisfied with his role at Chelsea...

Bonera impressed me two seasons ago, since then he made no big improvement, IMO. Maybe he needs a change, would be welcome at Torino because he is quite a versatile player - like Gallas.
I like Barzagli, but I doubt his ability to perform on the highest level right now.

I do thinkt that both Canna and Thuram can play two more great seasons, but only with worthy backups, which are quite hard to find of course...

I expect Cannavaro to follow in Maldini's footsteps and continue on the highest level till at least the age of 35. Thuram however needs to be replaced in a couple of years. We got Kovac but we need a broad squad so I'd agree with the players already mentioned in this thread like Gallas, Chivu or maybe a whole third. And don't forget Gladstone either. As long as we got Capello that's another positive note. Young players flourish well under Capello and therefore we could perhaps sign a young prospect from a small Serie A club.

I think they have already agreed with Cicinho.
Real Madrid have signed him. He will go there in December.
