Okay, the Thuram-Cannavaro partnership is doing great. We've been rock solid and have been conceding fewer goals since Lippi left and Capello brought forged this new partnership. But let's face it, by next year, we can not guarantee the same performances from these two players. They are seniors in the game and sooner or later, they will decline.

The troubling fact is that I don't see any proteges for the two. Who will replace them when the time comes? Kovac seems capable but let's face it, he's already 31 years of age. He might not last long too.

What do we do? Will we be buying two new centre-backs next year???

I dont see anyone in Juve's shelves which would be able to cover our goal in the future.

Enlighten me please if anyone knows how Juve's moving in on this matter.

Well Moggi will find something to solve that problem like he always do, so I don't wanna think about it right now:D

We seem to consider this every year... and I would argue that Milan has more issues to solve than we do in defense in the coming year.

It's looking like the next transfer windows should be looking at defense and offensive midfield almost exclusively, IMO.

This isn't exactly good news because we'd have to compete with them in the transfer market then. I think they have already agreed with Cicinho.

I on the other hand think we'll be pushing for Puyol, but of course, I think we'd be giving them one of our players in exchange.

Kompany is a tad overrated. The Belgian league isn't that good, so Kompany will have a really hard time adapting to Serie A. Chivu is already a proven defender, although he is often injured. But Thuram will be able to step in for him when that happens.

The other thing is, that Kompany said, that he dont want to change in the seria a!

And I think he is overrated!

Puyol will never leave Barcelona....Kompany I think is headed to the EPL, Cicinho and Lugano on their way to Madrid...Chivu would be a great pick, but I fear we will have to battle with Inter and Milan for him

Is Kompany any good? How would you guys rate him?

On my scale of 1-10, Kovac is surprisingly an 8.5 for me. I think he's stable enough to do the job at the back exceptionally well.

    Canna wont retire next year,
Thuram may handle his post at first eleven,
Kovac has 2-3more years in him,
Zebina can play as CB too,
when time comes we sould sign someone experianced, stable ready to join our team and make the diference,
    not experiments like Ferrari+Mexes,
just like we did with Thuram,Canna,Treze etc
today i hardly see the kind of material Thuram and Canna are...
dont forget we have the best defence in europe,
because we have some of the best defenders around,
lets keep it this way, defence is our power!
Luckily defenders arent the most expensive players around
and we dont have to sign the super hyped:

-chivu if he gets over the injury problem is welcomed
-Barzagli or Bonera are still growing,if they become good enough...
-there are still some good chances for a free Cole+Galas
-some guy being on the right age/form who knows by then maybe smth like villareal's Sorin

lets wait and see for now we are stable...

me neither, crazy idea that...sadly it's true, he can play as a CB.
I'd rate Kompany (1-10) at a 7 and Barzagli at 8. Barzagli would be my choice. Gallas for free, would be awesome...Barcaelona want him too though
