The only trouble I have ever had with it, was setting up the connection to the internet with it through my wireless Belkin (router). Apart from that, it is great. To keep a healthy PS3 just keep it well away from heaters and direct sunlight, and make sure it is in a clear gap to operate.

got PS3 for christmas and pro evolution have some great games with my mates but like you i can play other games like call of duty online but not pro evolution. i am not the best with computer IT i think the Nat3 is stoping me playing PES online any chance you can give me a step by step guide of how you set up your PS3 to play pro evolution online. i have eircom(irish) wireless broadband.

thanks

Guys I bought an Xbox on Friday, I'm thinking about buying Fifa 08 since PES doesn't come out here for another two or three months. Is it worth it? How many people here play Live?

Only in 2008 i have convinced 3 guys to choose PES 2008 instead of FIFA 2008,
two of the had PCs and the other one Xbox 360, choose PES, you wont regret it, the gameplay makes the difference, but if you are attracted by the licenses and manager mode, then FIFA is your game, they both lagg a lot using as multiplayers, i would only recommend PC lan wars, why dont you try them out in pc versions first? There are much easier to find;)

Pes over Fifa anyday of the week
Thanks for the advice guys. I'll try to wait for PES, but if I can't take it anymore I'll go ahead and get Fifa temporarily :D

I've noticed that a lot of people have preferred FIFA over PES this time round. I'd still choose the latter though. You'll find a lot of option files which would cover the licensing problems.

Basically, I have just had my best ever match on PES, online mode, ever.

I created a game and waited for someone to come join. I naturally picked Juventus, and he picked Real Madrid. I picked striped kits and he picked white kits, colour clash :(
    I started with this formation:

    Buffon
    Sali-Andrade-Boum-Chiellini
    Camo-Almiron-Tiago-Nedved
    Del Piero
    Iaquinta

With my two wingers attacking minded.

I kicked off, got a few passes in and went into a passing game to get to their goal. He went in fast and ready. Boumsong got the ball, he went to kick it, scuffed it, it hit Saviola in the head, Robinho took the ball and outpaced Boum, cut it back for Van Horseyface, who shot, great save Buffon, Boum got it on the 6 yard box, turned, got tackled by Robinho, who shot, Buffon got in the way, it rebounds off Gigi into Ruuds chest and goes in. 1-0 them. Half time.

Second half, I make no changes. I attack and attack. Cassilas makes at least 3 great saves before we reach the hour. On 70 mins, there is a corner, Pavel special, goes to Boumsong :)moan:) who puts it at least 6 feet wide of the right post from a header. I keep attacking. He is also attacking and could have doubled his lead without superman there. On 80 mins a cross comes in, Iaquinta is the only one in the box and it goes straight to him. He misses it with a volley. It isn't my day. On 85 mins Del Piero shoots from distance, low and hard. It goes past the post. On 87 mins Chiellini takes a shot from 35 yards, it hits the crossbar, goalie beaten. Goal kick taken short, I push the magical square button to call Iaquinta chasing the ball. He gets it, passes to Tiago, triangle and Chiellini is off. Circle! It goes to the penalty area, Square! Iaquinta doesn't win the header, it goes out to Nedved, SQUARE! SHOOT!, it hits Pepe who fouls Iaquinta, gets sent off. Del Piero freekick. 20 yards. Him vs goalie. NO! Parried. It is cleared, 90 mins and 1 min of stoppage time. SQUARE! Camo shoots, it goes past the mass of people in the penalty area, it curls past the goalie! Fuck yeah! :smoke:

Extra time, they are a man down. He attacks like a rash, Superman matching all of Ruuds and Saviolas shots. Half time in extra time. I make 2 changes. Since I attack from the wings, I want to add fresh legs there. I put Camo in the centre of the midfield, and I sub Tiago off for Marchionni. Chiellini is tired, I sub him off for Zebina. Throw in. Zebina takes it to Boum, who passes it back to Zebina. R1! NO! FOUL! Cut scene shows Zebina pushing Robinho, with the ref trying to break it up! Free kick Juventus. In these 15 mins I want to score. I attack, shoot left and right. He gets at least one attack. Iaquinta misses another sitter of a chance. Del Piero is being outpaced easily on his tired legs, but I need him for the pk shoot out. 5 mins remaining. Camo picks the ball up in the middle of the park, the Real Madrid back line are sitting back. Nedved makes a run, TRIANGLE + L1! Perfect ball! Pavel takes a touch and cheekily taps it past Cassilas. 2-1! Fucking hell! Get in! Orgasms feel great!

    FT Juventus 2 - 1 Real Madrid

Match stats: Juve - Real Madrid
    Shots: 25 - 18
    On target: 13 - 12
    Fouls: 11 - 14
    Yellow cards: 1 - 1
    Red cards: 0 - 1
    Possession: 52 - 48

The great thing is that as soon as Nedved scored, I got the camcorder out and recorded it. Ill upload it tomorrow, but it was lovely.

    Forza Juve! :scudetto:

And if you do want to write them, I suggest you leave out the commands. It's plain awkward and IMHO pretty gay to see SQUARE! SQUARE! SQUARE! in the middle of a sentence. I imagine you yell this in a nasal kind of way when playing the game btw.

My tactics to stop counter attacks in PES using BVR (beyond visual range) tackles :
when an opponent attacker runs away with the ball, quickly switch your controlled player to a defender that stays deep in your defense, so deep that not even the wide camera can catch him. Then press and hold the shoot button so that a second defender starts pressing the attacker running with the ball, from the back. He will stall him and unbalanced the attacker, so that the other player will not risk a pass or cross and choose to go for it, since the closest defender is already behind him.
Then press and hold the pass button, so that the selected defender that you control and still remains unseen, start running towards the ball and lines up with the attacker. This has to be performed very fast. Then all you have to do is,
just sync-ing your tackle, depending on the distance and speed of the ball, no need to aim anymore.
This gives you the advantage to make the perfect interception with a blind tackle ON the ball. So that your defender already started the sliding tackle, even before he appeared on the screen, there is no way that the other player would guess that, because no one can make such a precise tackle randomly pressing the tackle button before the eye contact. He wont have the time to avoid the tackle.
Practice this when you have no other option, this tehnique can really save you from one on one situations, at some certain cases, using high pressure, with two defenders, will suffocate your adversary, making a perfect tackle on the ball, before your opponent has the time to react, will be the last blow to his confidence.
The trick to align your defender with the enemy attacker, without having eye contact with your defender, using the pressing button is my copyright, thats very unlikely someone will use it. It works wonders against the AI and against unsuspected human players...
Its funny to see them randomly tackling around and hope that will ever get such a synced tackle on my counter attacks, soon after that...

Vin, I've always been a Sony (R.I.P. PS2) guy, but now I switched to Xbox 360 and it's awesome. I've never been much of a gamer, but, God, it's so much fun. I never liked those controllers, but it's been a cinch to adapt to all the controls and such. You can switch from PES back to FIFA this year too...it seems better to me.

If they don't have a bundle down in the States, come up here to Future Shop and you'll get one for $400 with Forza Motorsport 2 and some shitty Marvel game, a wireless controller, Live silver membership (never really been on and I hear it blows, but it's something), a wireless headset for Live, and some other stuff that I haven't really paid attention to. So yeah...I really recommend it.

Future Shop should be paying me, them rats.
