The Primavera extended their victorious championship run to nine games after emerging 2-1 winners from this afternoon’s home encounter with Spezia.
The triumph, sealed courtesy of Eric Lanini’s double, was made even more impressive considering the host of players unavailable for selection, prompting Marco Baroni to hand a Primavera debut to 15-year-old Fillipo Romagna.
Having burst out the blocks at an electrifying pace, the Bianconeri eventually edged their noses in front midway through the first half when Lanini found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper and kept his cool to slot into an empty net.
But the visitors raised their game and found themselves back on level terms moments later, with Franco curling home a free-kick to send both sides into the break on level terms.
As Juventus pushed forward in search of the upper hand, they eventually received a golden chance to regain their lead when Matteo Gerbaudo was upended in the box by Faye’s clumsy challenge. Lanini stepped up to ensure normal service was resumed and seal a vital three points for Baroni’s side.
The Bianconeri will now turn their attentions to Wednesday’s Coppa Italia semi-final away leg clash against Torino, with the return fixture to be played seven days later.
