While Antonio Conte’s men are currently gearing up to face Fiorentina on Saturday night, their younger counterparts, Marco Baroni’s Primavera, will take on the Viola tomorrow afternoon at Chisola.
It promises to be a classic top of the table clash between two sides vying for championship glory. The advantage is currently with Baroni’s league leaders, who would stretch their supremacy to nine points with a victory on home soil.
The Bianconeri have witnessed a remarkable upturn in fortunes since this season’s first meeting of the two sides, when a 3-0 reverse in Florence left them languishing in a mid-table position.
The defeat, however, provided the stimulus for an astonishing run of 11 straight championship victories which breathed new life into the Primavera’s title aspirations.
Their league form has also been replicated in other competitions, with a place in the Coppa Italia final guaranteed and a Next Generation Series last 16 encounter against Rosenburg to be contested on Thursday 7 March.
