Unfortunately, the Primavera didn’t pass through the semifinals of the 2012 edition of the Ruhr Cup tournament, but their coach Marco Baroni can take home some positive impressions about his lads.
Following two draws against Legia Warsaw (0-0) and Atlas Guadalajara (1-1), today they drew again before conceding a short-head win to their opponents, thus dropping from the run towards the qualification. In the first clash against the hosts Borussia, they achieved a 2-2 result: they came twice from behind, thanks to goals from Lanini and Schiavone. In the last match against Hamburg, instead, the rivals proved to be fatal from the spot some minutes before the final whistle.
With three points, they weren’t able to get a place of the first two positions of Group A, and tomorrow they’ll be back on the pitch for the consolation finals. However, Baroni can be satisfied with his lads’ performance. Despite several new, very young signings featuring in the tournament, the Bianconeri were a real match for their rivals and also showed good football. This can be a good omen for the incoming season, especially considering the Bianconeri’s path in the last tournament characterized by several defeats which however proved to be useful in shaking the hearts for providing an excellent championship.
