Following the two draws occurred against Fiorentina (championship and ‘Coppa italia’) and the unexpected defeat in Modena, Baroni’s lads were stopped at home by Livorno, being again two goals in front thanks to Libertazzi who netted in the first 15 minutes.
The Primavera wasted the chance to better start the busy period which will see them deeply involved. The Bianconeri are expected to feature in several fixture concerning the championship (on Friday against Grosseto), the ‘Coppa Italia’ competition (on Tuesday they’ll play Fiorentina in the second semifinal game) and the approaching Viareggio Cup tournament.
The match against Livorno was affected by the semifinal against Fiorentina. Marco Baroni decided to field those players who didn’t play a key role in the season, such as Roberto Esposito and Emmanuello.
The line up saw Gagliardini between the sticks (in place of Sluga who got injured during the warm-up), Carfora, Rubin, Magnusson and Carlos Garcia at the back, Corticchia and Chisbah in midfield, along with Ruggiero, Emmanuello and Esposito just behind Libertazzi.
At the Chisola the weather was cold, however the slight snow fall allowed the kick off. The game immediately took a precise development: the Bianconeri wanted to clinch the victory, and after almost 15 minutes they were 2 goals in front thanks to a double from captain Libertazzi. This result was kept up until the break, with the hosts managing the whole play.
In the second half, Baroni made some changes: De Silvestro in place of Ruggiero, and after ten minutes form the beginning, Schiavone replaced Emmanuello. The weather got worse and the snow settled on the pitch: the ball was changed with a yellow sphere and the game continued under artificial lights. The match development however was the same as that of the first half: Livorno didn’t find space to be dangerous and the Bianconeri counter-attacked chasing after their third in order to seal the win.
But 20 minutes before the final whistle, the visitors scored their first goal thanks to Colombi, thus reopening the game. And just ten minutes from the end, they managed to equalize with Landi. The last minutes were particularly wild and Livorno failed to score their third with Moscati. Exactly like De Silvestro did. Therefore, the game finished 2-2, with the Bianconeri being 10 men on the pitch due to Carfora who was red carded just before the end.
