The Primavera signed off their home league campaign with a 3-2 win over local rivals Novara. The watching public were treated to a thrilling encounter, decided by Schiavone’s double and a goal from Magnusson.
Marco Baroni began with a 4-2-3-1 formation. Branescu started in goal, with Untersee, Gouano, Magnusson and Liviero making up the back four. Appelt and Schiavone anchored the midfield, while Ruggiero, Beltrame and Spinazzola operated behind lone striker De Silvestro.
The Bianconeri, who went into the game on the back of two consecutive defeats, got off into a tentative start and found themselves behind after 12 minutes, with Maggio taking advantage of a rare mistake from Branescu to tap home.
Yet Juve rallied and restored parity on the half-hour mark following another goalkeeping error. Tonozzi misjudged his angles and Magnusson was on hand to pounce, burying a close-range header.
And the hosts snatched three minutes later when Ruggiero was felled in the box. Schiavone kept his cool to slot the ball comfortably past Tonozzi.
The second-half saw a double change for the Bianconeri, with Bouy and Carlos Garcia replacing Beltrame and Gouano. Despite going close through De Silvestro, Novara pulled themselves level through another Maggio strike.
But the Bianconeri pressed forward and found a winner midway through the second period. De Silvestro was brought down in the area and Schiavone, captain for the day, grabbed his second from the spot.
The victory puts Juve on 52 points, six ahead of Torino. Saturday will see Baroni’s side sign off in Parma before commencing their preparations for the playoffs.
