The Stadio Adriatico has represented a tough venue for Juventus over the years, with the visitors claiming just two victories from five previous Serie A encounters contested in Pescara.
The first top-flight meeting between the two sides – played on 8 January 1978 – saw Juventus emerge with a 2-1 victory thanks to strikes from Bettega and Fanna, either side of Nobili’s penalty.
Giovanni Trapattoni’s men enjoyed further success in 1980 as Virdis and Brio completed a straightforward 2-0 victory.
But this signalled the end of the positive tradition as Pescara chalked up their first triumph in 1988 through goals from Junior and Pagano.
Following a goalless shutout a year later, Juventus found themselves on the receiving end of a 5-1 drubbing when the sides locked horns in the 1993/94 campaign.
All looked to be going according to plan for the visitors after Ravanelli broke the deadlock inside the opening two minutes. But the Delfini launched a devastating comeback to stun Trapattoni’s outfit with a five-goal haul. Juve’s misery was compounded even further when German midfielder Moeller was given his marching orders.
The last time both teams met came in the 2006/07 Serie B campaign, with Birindelli’s goal handing the Bianconeri all three points. Buffon, Chiellini and Marchisio are the only survivors from the current squad.
