Tomorrow night’s visit of Nordsjaelland will be the second time the Bianconeri have entertained a Danish outfit on home soil in the club’s 115-year history.
The last meeting, contested on 29 September 1982, saw European Cup opposition Hvidovre attempt to reverse a 4-1 deficit from the first leg in Copenhagen.
They enjoyed better fortunes in Turin, drawing 3-3, but still failed to halt Juve’s progress through to the second round of the competition.
Goals from Boniek and Platini handed Juventus a two-goal lead by the midway point of the second half. But Petersen shocked the home faithful by dragging Hvidovre back into the encounter with a quick-fire double in the space of five minutes. Rossi restored the hosts’ lead moments later, only for Hansen to snatch an equaliser in the closing stages.
The Bianconeri starting line-up on that night at the Stadio Olimpico, selected by Giovanni Trapattoni, read as follows: Zoff, Gentile, Cabrini; Furino, Brio, Scirea; Boniek, Marocchino, Rossi, Platini, Bonini.
