I think other managers have done better with the same or less, but it's a genuine excuse. Shame other managers are not afforded it when they face a crisis. I also wouldn't say Newcastle's is anywhere near the worst I've seen.

You could argue that he is "ahead of schedule" having unexpectedly qualify for the CL, I suppose that's now the expectation having achieved it once.
