Del Piero Predicts English Opponents For Juve
3/16/2005 3:47:00 PM
The Bianconeri’s captain feels that his side will meet either Chelsea or Liverpool in the quarter finals of the Champions League.
On Friday afternoon at Nyon, the draw for the next round of the Champions League will be made, which should result in some mouth watering pairings. Juventus’ resurgent forward, Alessandro Del Piero, has indicated an English team as the next possible opponent for the Old Lady in this competition.
“I have the sensation that our next opponents will speak English,” stated the Italian international player.
Del Piero also commented about the introduction of technology in the football world following last Sunday’s match between Chievo and Juve, where the Flying Donkeys were denied a legitimate goal as neither the referee nor linesman noticed that the ball had crossed the line.
“There’s little to say about the goal’s episode, the ball was in, even though from my pitch position I didn’t see anything. Maybe the only solution for this type of situation is really the electronic system, but I rather stop here, as it’s not up to me to offer suggestions on this thing.”
Moggi Wants PSV Clash
3/16/2005 4:05:00 PM The Juventus General Director would welcome a tie against the Dutch champions in the quarter finals of the Champions League.
Luciano Moggi has commented this Friday’s Champions League draw where he expressed his opinion on the teams he would like to meet and avoid.
“If I had to choose, it would be PSV Eindhoven,” declared Moggi.
However the team he would most like to avoid most is Inter.
“The Nerazzurri are always dangerous and difficult to face,” concluded the transfer guru.
