Ok, but if we run, we don't go into the air, we have to force ourselves off of the ground, hence jump. So they have to exert more energy in order to become airborn more than if they were normally swimming.

its jus funny, cos ive used that joke on my gay friend, he thought it was hilarious.....didnt work as well on my misses tho, she thought it was abouts as funny as a getting run over by a hummer.

No, they don't, all they have to do is change direction: go up instead of straight forward. And in a liquid such as water, that doesn't require any different moves or energy.
