Anyone catch the opening Braga-Porto match today? Quaresma started off the season with major sickness as usual, scoring both goals in a 2-1 victory ... Porto's first there in four years. A brace of cracker goals, the game winner being on a free kick from the side of the box that rang around the wood, hitting the post twice, before going in. No chance for the keeper. (Interestingly enough, former Porto defender Jorge Costa is now Braga's coach.)

When are we going to listen to Lippi and sign that mofo?! :pumpkin:

Porto has a big test next week against Sporting, to whom they lost the Portuguese SuperTaça earlier this month, 1-0.

There is only one Superliga, and that is where the goalkeeper let Beckham score, then smile afterwards.

    Serbia? Denmark? Brazilian volleyball?

Certainly, Beckham has never been a top flight hockey star in Russia, despite what the MLS announcers tell us. :p

Btw, here's video of Quaresma's two free kick spectaculars today:

Benfica ties to Leixoes :disagree: Thank god Fernando Santos got sacked.
It was a bit of a surprise, but I saw that match. Benfica played like crap. They got a nice goal late, but were too disorganized ... I knew they had a high likelihood of giving up an equalizer in the remaining injury time minutes with the way they played defensively.

I don't think most Benfequistas are heartbroken, however.

Anyway, now tell me, what is a Quaresma? :)

They, outran Portugal for the 90 minutes. By the way swag it's "Benfiquistas" and I was disappointed because our two "young stars" or so they say, didn't even make it onto the bench (Adu and Di Maria), but with Camacho I'm sure a few changes will occur. I believe Benfica is trying to sign Pauleta another old player & Oubina from Celta.

We have good youngsters that deserve a chance, look at Sporting they have like Portugal U-20 over there and they beat Academica 4-1. We should play Bruno Costa, Miguel Victor, Romeu Ribeiro, Fabio Coentrao, Freddy Adu, Angel Di Maria & Yu Dabao.

FYI, to be an anal mod, I moved all the Armenia-Portugal discussions to the Euro 2008 qualifiers thread:

As for "Benfiquistas", thanks for the correction -- I just noticed that.

Benfica has the pieces to do well, including Camacho now. I think it was a bit desperate for the club to make changes so quickly. But at the same time, if Camacho was available and interested, better to do it now before dragging on the season with the new players getting used to Santos and potentially accumulating more underwhelming performances under him, etc.

This week I bet big amounts on Liverpool, Benfica, OB and Milan. Today is Boavista and tomorrow is Real Madrid.

Monday it is AC Milan vs. Viola. :)

I'm impressed with your knowledge about Denmark. Good fucking job!

@Arif This week... I bet 50 Danish Kroner (7 Euro) on each of my five bets. I had Liverpool to beat Toulouse on Tuesday, Benfica to beat FC Copenhagen on Wednesday, OB to beat Minsk on Thursday, AC Milan to beat Sevilla on Friday.

I started the week with 59,50 Danish Kroner (8 Euro). Yesterday I had more than tripled that amount ending up with 238 Danish Kroner (31 Euro). In the space of four days.

I lost the bet on Boavista. Today I took myself the liberty to play 21 Kroner (3 Euro) on Real Madrid away to Villareal.

Tomorrow I will bet on AC Milan to win versus La Viola.

My desire is to give my winnings to the Red Cross on October 7th where I will be going door to door to raise money for the less fortunate. If Real Madrid wins tonight I can do that. :)

Well, Porto sure left us in suspense there. Locking up the league title on April 5...

Pretty true, really. Guimarães is about the only thing new this season.
