Gomes has a totally forgettable and unsung role. I think he particularly did well the last match.

On Portugal, your center forward may as well be your defensive midfielder in terms of getting recognition.

I know C Ronaldo is having the time of his life but it annoys me how the commentators overlook the good work Nuno Gomes has been doing upfront for Portugal even in moves where he makes a more crucial touch in build up
yeah his assist for Portugal's first goal against Turkey was superb

Anyone rooting for the Czech?
Maybe me. :)
I have no idea what's better for Croatia in the quarters. Czech or Turkey ?
Even though the Czechs are considered to be the better and more experienced team, i fear the Turks more than i fear the Czechs so i'll probably end up rooting for Czech Republic to win the 2nd place in the group and play Croatia in the quarters.
Imo, Turkey is the better team, even though most people won't agree with me.

I don't really care who wins, just want to see good football. As for who wins, it's really anybody's guess.

All I know is that I'm loven this Lowenbrau.

I think Turkey would be a bigger threat. The Czech dont have the required firepower which could be so so crucial in the knockout games.Plus they seem to lack imagination. But whoever wins doesnt really matter.I expect Croatia to beat them on their road to an eventual Euro 2008 triumph.
They are not playing the Azzurri, so there is no reason for me to root for them :nasty:
:D

The basic factor here for me is Nedved obviously, and to some extent Grygera.

I chose Koller for my fantasy squad. Bruckner knows that Kollar can finish while Baros wastes too many opportunities.
Yup,i chose him in the first round vs Switzerland...but he didn't even play 60 min!!
i removed him,and now he scored...lucky you;)

great game, full of drama and a wondeful result for the turks. tbh i think the injustice they perceived from the czech second goal was what fired them up to push on,great winner from nihat as well

on a side note as i said before i have been hugely impressed by placil for the czechs, if he learned to defend he could be fantastic

Turk, or anyone else from Turkey, can you confirm this about the injuries ?

........ said:
TURKEY vs CROATIA... This is now what we should more think about. The CENTREBACK problem is not nice.

SERVET CETIN - Played two games although he is injured. After PORTUGAL MATCH, doctors said, HE IS 2 MONTHS injured. He still plays... He is now like a dead man. But continues playing..... Unprofessional ????? SURE, but "this is why we are not giving up till FT"...

GOKHAN ZAN - In the Portugal match, he was injured and out. After that he did not play. Will not play at QF either...

EMRE ASIK - Has an injury as well. Can play but he is not fully fit.

EMRE GUNGOR - The young man was a starter yesterday. Injured and EMRE ASIK had to enter. That moment Turkey did conceed the 2-0 goal, while playing with 10 men... This EMRE GUNGOR is badly injured. No new informations but he will miss some weeks like it looks like...

We have 4 CENTRE BACKS, all four are injured.
We have GOKHAN GONUL, the hero of CL with FENERBAHCE. By UEFA.com, a great star for the RIGHT BACK in European Football Future. INJURED and he was sent home from squad.
We have EMRE BELOZOGLU, a great midfield player, a star of our NT. Injured and he missed last TWO games and looks to miss the QF as well.
We have TUMER METIN, a Greece Star, loved by Larisa Fans as he simply was "very motivated" there and showed some real power and creativity. He is another INJURED PLAYER and missed the last game.

Next to these, MARCO AURELIO, arguably one of the best defensive midfield players in Europe.... Surely the best in Turkey. He is SUSPENDED for the QF.

And beside MARCO, we have a great keeper, although his being ALWAYS READY to make unbeliavable mistakes... VOLKAN DEMIREL... Red card, suspended.... VOLKAN had a great EURO 2008 and he had a chance to be maybe the BEST KEEPER of this EURO as Cech out, Buffon maybe out, Boruc maybe out etc etc... Now.... He will always be remembered with RED CARD in 93rd MINUTE and go out, "TUNCAY SANLI" taking his shirt and being the GOAL KEEPER in last 2 minutes......

That's why we will have problems against CROATIA who have a great coach and great players as well. CROATIA stars will be rested today unlike TURKEY stars who were dying on the field yesterday. But CROATIA will now also know that they will play vs a team that ELEMINATED SWITZERLAND and CZECH REP from being DOWN in HT ! Not any team WON A MATCH from HT down in this EURO 2008.

TURKEY won "2 GAMES" this way... That's not luck for sure !

GOOD LUCK to Croatia as well. Hope to watch another fantastic match like yesterdays....

I started watching the game when they were 2-0 down. I have to be honest, I didn't think they had it in them but their determination was very impressive.
