Paul Pogba’s explosive start to life at Juventus has seen the midfielder named as one of the candidates for this year’s prestigious European Golden Boy award.
The honour, established by Italian newspaper Tuttosport in 2003, is handed to the most impressive youngster, under the age of 21, plying his trade in the top flight of any European country.
Previous winners include Mario Balotelli, Rafael Van der Vaart, Alexandre Pato, Lionel Messi, Wayne Rooney, Cesc Fabregas and Sergio Aguero.
A shortlist of 40 young talents will be whittled down by a judging panel of 30 journalists, representing the likes of France Football, L’Equipe, The Times, Marca, Mundo Deportivo and Bild.
Each journalist is allowed to select five players, allocating 10 points to the player they believe to be the most impressive, 7 for second, 5 third, 3 fourth and 1 point for the fifth most impressive.
