Andrea Pirlo has commented glowingly on Juventus’ impressive start to the season and believes the team must look to maintain the same attitude that has served them so well throughout the first half of the campaign.
The midfield general, speaking on Juventus Channel’s 231 show to be broadcast this evening, provided a superb assist for Stephan Lichtsteiner’s opening goal in Bergamo - the full-back’s second strike since his summer move from Lazio.
Last night’s victory saw Juventus clinch the title of ‘Winter Champions’ for the 25th time in the club’s history. And the 32-year-old playmaker knows the accolade shows that the Bianconeri are heading in the right direction.
Pirlo said: “The assessment up until now is more than positive. We started with a new team and new manager and have had a great run, taking each game as it comes, whilst improving our play. We’re happy to be top at the halfway point of the season, but we’re aware that the championship is finely balanced and we know that we still haven’t achieved anything. The judgements will be made at the end of the season, but for now it’s important to be ahead.”
