Who is good at photo manipulation here?

I have a wallpaper that needs some tweaking and I would like some help.

A part has to be moved from the bottom to the top and some shadows have to be removed.

I know what to do but the thing with GIMP is it lacks snapping or I don't know how to enable it. It is a very simple thing but I am not able to make a clean work, I am ending up with a small line on the side or overlapping of the two objects I'm moving.

Finally I started getting used to GIMP a bit.

I'll never get used to GIMP. NEVER.

It recquires patience. Once I start playing with filters and understand how it's layers work, I think I will admit it is superior to Photoshop.
