Simone Pepe converted a late penalty to secure the Primavera victory in Siena.
The midfielder, who continued his bid for peak fitness with a useful 90 minute run-out for Marco Baroni’s youngsters, was the natural candidate to step up and take responsibility when the Bianconeri were awarded a spot-kick with six minutes remaining.
The victory takes the Primavera up to 17 points in the championship with a game in hand over their rivals. Their next fixture sees them host Novara on Sunday in Vinovo.
