Yeah, all well and good, but there are people seriously wanting to get a constitutional amendment to allow Arnie to run for president. (Some people propose constitutional amendments as often they write staff memos to change the colors of the bathroom walls, etc.)
The thing is that Arnold's popularity is taking a real nosedive in Cali. I could have told everyone here that, but would they listen??... nah! Cali has been in a deep financial crisis, like many other states. So people voted to recall Gray Davis and put Arnold in, thinking he was going to play Terminator for real and save humanity here. A lot of people are now getting disillusioned with him, because in order to balance budgets he's cutting into many state programs and departments -- from firemen to nurses to... -- and not slashing their taxes at the same time.
It's so unpopular for any elected official to demand sacrifices from their public when they are required. So I'm a bit cynical about the negative public opinions he's received lately. To me, those poor opinions reflect that he's probably doing his job -- as there was no way someone could clean up Cali's fiscal mess without pissing off a lot of people in the process and asking them to cut back.
