How many players in our team are consistently good?
Consistent players are like unicorns, they don't exist anywhere except in the minds of people. However the variance of Dybala's performances is a bit too large. Of course that's also partly down to how crazy good he can be when on form but he needs to find a way to not have quite such dramatic lows.

That is the key to this thread.

When Dybala is good, he is ridiculously good. Dybala can do things with a football that other players in our squad can only dream of. That inevitably leads to a situation where Juve fans become frustrated on why he cannot play like a magician every week.

Dybala is not a machine like CR7. He is a free spirit like Hazard, he's magical when he wants to be.

You can hate players like Hazard/Dybala, or you can learn to love them for who they are.

Bolded. Well sorry i cant accept that. A player must be standard in his performances... Not only when the stars aligns for him to do something.

And btw, hazard is turning into madrids biggest flop in recent times, so thatvwas a very bad comparison

Ok. Name 20 players in world football that always put in peak performances.

The problem is not that he doesnt put peak performances everygame, no one can do that.

i just ask for standard performances worthy of a player of his supposed quality. Im not even talking about screamers and hattricks ala ronaldo everygame.
The guy is a random box of surprises everygame, and as of late are not so pleasant ones

You are right ... but if a player pushing for 15m ... i think it is fair to say he will be questioned week in week out ....

CR7 , MDL the same story .... we expect heroics every week ...

they should be consistent...

Anyway still hope Dybala recovers his form soon he will be a force for us
Large salaries equals more pressure with the expectation of being consistent. Ill agree with that when the given player has had a preseason and has a body that is ready to play at its best. Dybala is nkt in that state at this point in time. He needs more game time and has had more than just covid that has knocked him around.

The question is if his contract was settled already at 10 or 12m...would he cop the shit he is getting now??

Please keep in mind that Dybala has been having health problems. First the injury that kept him out already at the end of last season, then he got sick during the first international break and there are still some issues as he didn’t go to the Argentinian team. He hasn’t been in best condition and we can’t blame him for that, such things just happen. He carried us last year and I don’t have to describe what he’s capable of, just wait and allow him some time to get back in shape.

Can’t wait to see him together with Kulusevski, Morata and Ronaldo.

By the way it’s (with a few days difference) exactly a year ago that Sarri subbed Ronaldo out for Dybala, in that game vs Milan. Ronaldo was playing awful, but unlike Dybala he demands to play everything. Came back as another player after that international break, still not sure if he had (minor) injuries. But just to say that a slow start, especially combined with injuries/sickness, happens to every player.

The more he plays in build-up, the more inconsistent he will be. Because he sucks in build-up. He doesn't even control the football with his right leg, so that's how you end up running straight out of bounds...

Inside the box though, I can't recall a stretch of games where he was costing us points by missing sitters, or something. I find him to be pretty consistent throughout his career in the box.

That's why he'd do better in a more dominant team, probably in a more open championship. His finishing is good, I'd say definitely beyond average.

That #9 role under Sarri was very good for him IMO, it's just that, the rest sucked badly so both Dybala and CR7 were isolated too much upfront and didn't have teammates capable of playing with them. I guess you could mention only Ramsey here, even if on rare occasions.

We cant blame him for getting sick, but we can point him for asking for playtime in an aggressive way when he knew he was not in optimal shape,

Yup. ill give you the reason in the end About him having to be strictly closer to goal... because is plain obvious that far from it he gets so lost and doesnt have the tools to be a treq or an attacking mid.

About him inside the box i still disagree tho, not that he cant do that, but he is not a fox in the box a la morata and is not fast enough for that... IMO he excels in a front of 2 playing just outside the box ala del piero. Nothing else.
