Ronaldo can play until he is 40...
That's why it's important we build our team around this guy, and then watch us win CL.
Ronaldo has already clearly declined from his peak and he will only continue to decline over the next 5 years.

The idea that we can build a team around him and he’ll win us the UCL is all wishful thinking.

CR7 was brought here to help us win the CL. Not win in by himself. So far he has been more than a helping hand in CL games, but we sacrificed midfield to accommodate him and it showed. Maybe the last coach didn't help either... But that's why we have directors that are supposed to see things that mere mortals can't. The moment Ronaldo is a burden(financially or tactically) he will be told in no uncertain terms and at the very least he would have no problem finding a new club.

But given the money we spend on him I hope he stays at least 2 seasons more.

The idea that we can only win the Champions League if we have Ronaldo is kinda ridiculous.
Maybe we will not win it with him, but let me tell you something.. is not every team that can brag about having ronaldo in its lines.

And is not exactly a "has been" ronaldo... is a record breaking Ronaldo.

Its more ridiculous to suggest sacrificing the most effective and proven player you have.

You will see Bayern destroy PSG in the final. The reason is PSG have a front trio that doesnt defend. And Bayern does. Having a Ronaldo or Dybala that doesnt defend is like playing with a red card or two.

We didn't sacrifice anything, we blew our money on other areas, and the midfielders we got weren't good enough.

Well, I'm sorry to burst your bubble, but if I had to choose between sacrificing a 35 year old professional and a 26 year old who loves the club, I know where my loyalties lie.

As usual. I understand modern football is all about movement, interchangeable roles, and attackers being tasked with defensive duties, but the primary role of an attacker has to be to attack (duh) and score goals. It's like asking Michael Jordan, back in his heyday, to grab rebounds - that would've been a criminal waste of his talent and abilities.

You don't sacrifice him, but you also don't plan around someone who AS OF NOW will only be here another two years and is 35 years old. It's just not wise to do long term.

It's not "has been" Ronaldo, he's still amazing. But lets keep in mind, it isn't peak Madrid Ronaldo either. Age comes for us all eventually.

Let's build around Dybala, and he will deliver, just like the Cardiff final. :baus:

Lichtsteiner: "Dybala must stay at Juve. On a technical level, if Juve still want to grow, they can't sell a player like Paulo that is extraordinary. In Europe there are not a lot of players like him."

The whole team was garbage, throw them all out then and replace them with 30+ year old Madrid players that won it before. Doesn't make sense, you have to plan for the future or you end up like Milan where they now have to rely on a 38 year old Ibrahimovic. By the way, we haven't even been close to a final since then.

Also, I distinctly remember when Ronaldo used to be considered a choker too. That is, until he wasn't. Liverpool never won the Premier League, until they did. Get where I'm going with this?

Ronaldo is by miles and away the best player Juve had last season, and he was actually on a roll towards the end. He'll remain clutch in the big games for at least a season
Dybala is a nice younger player with alot of talent. As in 4 times more talented than anyone else not called Ronaldo.

It is extremely simple. So simple i shouldnt even say this

We keep Ronaldo and Dybala.
We discuss keeping/swapping/selling/buying to the remaining 21 players

There. Holy shit its such a radical idea, it allready bought a black flag and a kalashnikov

Well, maybe they expected more from Rabiot and for sure a lot more from Ramsey. We didn't blow a lot of money, because we bought fantastic players and started wheeling and dealing with the lesser quality. Potato... I firmly believe they have a plan, but its a fact we've lost another year and with the current wage bill we could hardly afford it.
