Thanks, so what did the attack look like back then?
We started playing with a 4-2-3-1 formation in early 2017 and blew away every team we faced. Pjanic and Khedira were the midfielders. Mandzukic and Cuadrado played out wide. Higuain was the central striker and Dybala behind him. Then the final against Real Madrid happened and our inadequacies in midfield and lack in depth in attack were exposed, so we tried to move to a 4-3-3
We played with either a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 the following season with less favorable results.

Thank you very much. Interesting that they had a big bodied guy like Mandzukic out wide. If Higuain and Dybala had good chemistry together in a 4-2-3-1 then maybe having Ronaldo and DC as the outside guys would work well in the same formation? I know that people love to rip on Higuain but I'd assume that he'll be an upgrade on most of the guys that we had up front last year in terms of finishing ability?

We have way to many midfielders to not play 3 in midfield, so I don’t see it happening. Sarri is also a proponent of the 4-3-3 so that’s what I expect to see.
Also Higuain has declined massively in the last two years, I’m not sure if he’s good enough anymore.

Thanks. So basically we'd need to play Dybala at CF or on the wings so more or less like last seasons deployment? If so does Sarri's stye of play alone see Dybala with a better season?

Mandzu and Cuads played a huge part in making the system work with their high workrate, covering for both, Higgy and Dybala and the CM's. Prolly one of the main reasons why Max played him there. That, and the sneaky long post crosses we played to him where he would just beat the usually smaller fullback to the header. Also #1 outlet for long balls from the keeper and to escape high press.

I have lost any excitement i had for new season as soon as news of selling Dybala poped up. I didn't open the forum since then until i heard this guy has rejected those bastards.

I hope he rejects any offer he receives and stay here. He is a legend material and i would hate it to see this guy in another shirt. It's too much too handle

Dybala has his worst season last year playing on the right side of a front three. Mandzukic and Ronaldo had the other two positions and they would interchange through the game.

The only option for Dybala this year is in the middle of the front three, either as a CF or as a ‘false 9’ with Ronaldo cutting in. The issue though is that Dybala isn’t the most physical so it will rely on us playing to feet, quick passing and moving into space. That’s exactly Sarri’s game so here’s hoping...

If we were to somehow add a guy like Icardi or Lukaku to be the CF, have Ronaldo and Costa on the wings and Dybala as the false 9, that should be a very strong group up front. I hope that if we keep Paulo that we are able to utilize him to his strengths or his value will plummet even more.

PSG step in for upset Dybala

Football Italia

AlthoughPaulo Dybala rejected Manchester United, he’s still on the market and Juventus could start talks with Paris Saint-Germain or Inter.
Multiple sources in England and Italy stated this evening that the exchange deal between Romelu Lukaku and Dybala is dead in the water.
The Argentine made it clear he was not enthusiastic about the transfer to Old Trafford and Manchester United in turn decided it was not worth trying to convince someone who had so many doubts.

However, that does not necessarily mean Dybala will remain in Turin, as he is said to be deeply hurt by Juve’s attempts to push him into this move.
He could well still accept a transfer to a club in the Champions League or one he considers more suited to his style of football.
The Corriere dello Sport points towards Paris Saint-Germain, unsurprising considering the Ligue 1 giants have long been linked with the 25-year-old and director Leonardo is an admirer of La Joya.
Another alternative for Dybala would be Inter in a swap for Mauro Icardi, a proposal that has been floating around since the start of the summer.
Inter have frozen Icardi out and he is rejecting transfers to Napoli and Roma because his heart is set on Juventus.
Nerazzurri director Beppe Marotta is the man who first brought Dybala to Juventus from Palermo and would relish a reunion.
If it were to happen, this exchange would be towards the very end of the transfer window, which in Serie A doesn’t close until September 2.

4-2-3-1 was not exposed vs Madrid. Allegri had already randomly changed to a 3-4-3 formation from the first Monaco game. Benching Cuadrado in the process.

Was the beginning of the poor decisions from Allegri imo, Cuadrado's pace and workrate was sorely missed in that final vs Madrid.

I mean straight swap Eriksen for Dybala, imma say yes. Tottenham would not want that, but with less than a year of contract, they can't risk losing him on free
Spurs would absolutely take this if it happened to be on the table.

And I personally believe it would be in everyone's best interests: Tottenham, Juve and both players.

But there's only four days to make it happen.

Dybala doesn't like the idea of playing for a Europa team.
Dybala has an on going case which complicates the transfer.
Dybala wants to stay
Dybala stays
Dybala to spuds back on
Dybala to PSG back on.

I think PSG suits him tbh, I think we would accept there, and reports are that he would accept inter too so maybe an Icardi + cash for Dybala could be possible, we seem desperate to sell so I don't really seen him staying, would be hard to in that environment.

Not condoning anything btw, just saying what is probably going to happen imo, I am genuinely happy that Lukaku isn't coming here, that move made 0 sense.
