Dybala is a top player in the right system that suits him, basically a free role around the penalty area. Unfortunately with CR7, Mandzukic and our midfield he's now a luxury player being moved around to accommodate players with more output. It's only be so long before he wants to go.

There does come a point where the club and player make a decision that suits all parties.

Yeah, but that's different than what he said. 2nd most important player would imply we can't play without him, we can't win without him, he must play well if we want to get to latter stages etc.

He's certainly had his moments as you pointed out, but we never really suffered when he didn't play - thus, not as important as some think.

Without Chiellini our defense falls apart, without Cancelo one complete side of our attack is suffering, without Pjanić we can't organize anything, without Mario Ronaldo is completely isolated, Berna is doing what Allegri wants Dybala to do etc... Without Dybala we played some of the best games in this decade with fast ball movement, pressing, running all over..it's not a coincidence anymore.

I love Dybala, but imo he isn't our 2nd most important player at the moment. Those two are quite comfortably Ronaldo and Chiellini. The you have guys like Pjanic and Szczesny who are way ahead of their competition and because of that are really important for the team. With Bernardeschi showing some promise this season in terms of being able to replace some of the things Dybala brings to the team I'd probably have Dybala at 5th. However Dybala has the potential to be our most important player like he has been in the past, if he gets going again.

Yup, 4 of those 5 were against mighty Young Boys. And no, they're not meaningless ofc, but I think '2nd most important player', this indispensable guy should do just a bit more. Good you mentioned Barca 3-0, because that was supposed to be his break onto the big stage, serious comparisons with Messi started after that game and he just plummeted from there. Then next year he had that amazing start, then comparisons with Messi started again before the GS game and he turned to mediocre again after that. He's very immature and timid mentally. Even in his first year when he was great he scored that goal at home vs Bayern but he was absolute shite all game before and after that. He couldn't control a football because he shat himself. He was one of my favorite players back then and I remember being shocked, asking myself what's happening with him.

For the 100th time, it's not about goals. My criticism of him has very little to do with goals. Players of his style, of his talent should be leaders and driving their team forward in every attack - what Bernardeschi did vs Atletico, Pogba vs Bayern, Costa vs RM last year. What Dybala did in his 1st year here after all.

I'm not ungrateful, I'm giving constructive criticism. If we can spend huge money without selling him, rebuild our midfield and give him a chance to play closer to goal and he's back to 1st season Dybala, he's consistently great again then I'm all for him staying, couldn't be happier. If we can't and the fee from his sale could get us all 3 of Romero, Ndombele and Chiesa/Zaniolo then bye bye.

KEY PHRASE: 'at their age'

Dybala only really exploded in his last year with Palermo at the age of 22 and 8 months. Zaniolo will be only 20 in July, Chiesa 22 in October. You're laughing because it's sexy to shit on italian talents these days, but both are great for their age. Physically and technically already really impresive, ambitious and hungry. Really mature and serious and strong characters which is not usual for guys their age.

I don't necessarily disagree about James right now, but again at Dybala's age he was a superstar in the making, leading Colombia at WC and playing great for RM under Ancelotti. At WORST he and Dybala are 99% copies of one another which only reinforces my point you wouldn't be doing this if Dybala wasn't our player and you had no emotional interest in him. One is shit and laughable he could take Dybala's place, the other could only be replaced by Mbappe, the biggest superstar in the making right now.

And no, replacing Dybala with Chiesa, Zaniolo or other young guys wouldn't be nearly the same as replacing Pogba and Vidal with Khedira and Matuidi. Those guys were unwanted by other teams, older guys with tons of mileage on them already and pretty one dimensional. Chiesa and Zaniolo are young, hungry, dynamic, talented guys with future ahead of them. And they probably never will be as good as Dybala could be if he fulfilled his potential, but they don't have to be. Dybala is hardly going to be what he could be. Right now him and Juventus are burdens to each other unless we can retool our team and fit everyone around him. I don't think we'll do that or we'll be able to do that, but if we could it's a win-win for everyone.

Don’t think you can compare stats with a player at a club that plays attacking football vs a Juventus player. We make most of those players decline in terms of goals and assists due to our pragmatic approach.

The last part about salah fitting in Max’s 4-3-3 better is a fair analysis though.
