Is in a slump, but is also our best player. Still hasn't turned 24, still growing as a player. Agree with MikeM, ideally he'd be occupying space a little further up field. Also, our midfield was piss poor last game. Nothing from the wings, either; particularly Mandzukic. Alex Sandro was about as bad as we've ever seen him, although I think he'll get that turned around shortly. The first half was absolutely disgusting, all the way round.

Definitely don't agree that Higuain is a better passer though. How many times have we see Gonzalo's lazy passes go directly to an opponent this season?

Patience is required, this young man is going to have a huge season. Just needs a couple easy goals to get that confidence going -- he is pressing, and making poor decisions, especially from distance.

Dybala has to drop back to his own half just to receive the ball for two reasons:

1. Our midfield pivot of Khedira and Pjanic cannot control a game against any decent opponent that presses.

2. Our flanks and wide areas don't create anything so our opponent focuses entirely on shutting down Dybala.

Of course, the ignorant call him a "big game choker" instead of understanding the fundamental flaw in our setup and why it's difficult for him to shine against any good opponent.

Against Milan he took part in both goals. With the assists and with the dummy. The game before that he scored vs SPAL. The one before that he assisted again vs Udiense.

Are we to the point where if a 23 yo (or really a player of any age) doesn't score/assist every single game, its a slump?

He was even good vs Sporting. Unlike Pjanic he was actually able to show up despite the heavy marking. He was followed by Battaglia all game and still managed to show up. People acting like Sporting is Benevento and he either dominates or is a flop.

Higuaín's dribbling is only "strong" not "very strong" which is pretty accurate as only players like Dybala get "very strong".

As for Chiellini, defenders tend to get "strong" or "very strong" because they usually make easy passes.

Sturaro I can't explain because I don't know how they measure "holding on to the ball" but my guess is that it's measured by the ability to protect the ball with your body from opponents trying to take it. However, among Sturaro's weaknesses there's passing, so, even if he's good at protecting the ball with his body, he sucks at passing and gives the ball away under pressure.

Khedira's style of play is pretty accurate. Has no significant strengths that can be measured and is weak at tackling.

Now, I don't know how they measure defensive contribution but perhaps they take into account distance covered, tackles, interceptions, idk.

Well, you can justify anything using the same approach, dude. Like Cuads has `very strong` key passes. He indeed makes `key passes` from time to time, does he? But doesn't anyone and their mom moans about his decision making in final 3rd? So is he good or not at that?

I just don't understand this – Dybala played like crap most of the last game until Sporting died and was unable to keep the tempo. After that (and Matuidi coming off the bench) he started to make his short vertical passes, one-twos etc. So whats more probable – Dybala somehow became `untired` at something 70-minute mark or Sporting players were successful at breaking his game up to that point?

Allegri said that but it only pertains to the offensive part of the game. He's nowhere near the mezzala position when we are defending. He's up there with Higuain. All this talk about him being played out of position is not true imo. He has the most free role in our team. He can attack from the middle, roam into the area, move to the wing. He can basically do whatever he wants but it's up to him to make the correct decision.
