They ofcourse make a difference, all players on the pitch does. But I mean in comparison with the other positions.

When it comes to goalies, Barca issue isnt Ter Stegen even if he isnt a top player, but everything in defence and midfield. Besides what Ocelot said, I will illustrate the biggiest argument against what you just said, here:

I give you the starting goalies for the two sides that been the most successful era teams in past 30 years (and in football history in general).

Valdez was a good keeper, that Barca had some more questionable outfield players like Eidur Gudjohnsen, Seydou Keita, Sylvinho or Alexander Hleb (ok, this guy was not a starter, but had to throw him in :D). About Rossi no idea honestly, started following footie in the early 00's, was he that bad?

Buffon had a big impact on Italy winning 2006, probably bigger than Totti, Del Piero, Camoranesi or other stars of Italy. Kahn in 2002 had a huge impact on Germany going to the finals, where he once again had a huge impact in them losing to Brazil. For me goalkeeper is the most essential part of the defense, more important than the CB's and fullbacks. Let me put it this way, if I am a CB in a 4 man defense, I'd rather have a shitty CB partner me than a shitty goalie behind me.

I take Osman's point, but Seba Rossi was pretty underrated. Not a fantastic keeper by any stretch, but was pretty solid and dependable for the most part and was around at a time when Italy had amazing depth in GK stocks (Zenga, Tacconi, Pagliuca, Marchegianni, Bucci etc) and couldn't get a sniff at the time.

Certainly with the amount of distance shooters these days

Um he had a fantastic 2nd half. He was not a factor first half because they had extremely tight man marking on him centrally, Masiello followed him everywhere, unnerved him, missed passes etc. Couple that with aggressive pressure and tackling, our approaches down the middle was a kill zone (more harder when ref allowed hard fouls from the back with no yellows).

That's why it was ingenious 2nd half for him, wether he came up with it or was Allegri direction, he was smart enough to realize he needs to get out of pocket, essentially played as 2nd RW, moving centrally when their initial pressure subsided, then drifted wide again, impossible to mark and was involved with all open play actions we had in 2nd half.

Have you watched the second half at all? He was one of the best after Alves and Pjanic.
Watched and recorded the game like all our games. Second half.... "He was best after Alves and Pjanic".... .Not a fierce competition to be the third best player when all the players were bad.He had many, many better displays. This one wasn't his best display ,to be generous saying. And also, our whole team was better in the second half.He is a phenomenon and he should make the difference when the rest of our squad are playing poorly.

The whole team didn't care for the game. Why always bitch and moan?
Read something before you quote.I wrote that the whole team plays badly and that he is the player who can make the difference in that circumstances. Why always hail and glorify when there is no room for that?Be realistic.Always hailing our players no matter what they do doesn't help Juve or yourself, to pretend that you are a big Juve fan.
