During the middle of our mercato I had him set up in that role @Osman He clearly has an eye for a pass, but he and others see him as someone who also scores.
talking about starting coman ahead of dybala and why it happened. allegri started previous season with coman against chievo. we all know how it ended and max seems to be a person who believe in some luck from above so this is the reason
Dybala does need to be closer to goal, he isn't quick enough to carry the ball too far, he's excellent in short bursts and small spaces, kinda like Del Piero.
He'd work as one definitely but he needs two forwards who move a lot in front of him so his passing is useful and they create space for him to make runs with the ball from deeper positions. He'd also need to to have less defensive duties IMO, he's no Tevez in terms of stamina and work rate.
I like Coman and I don't mind him starting, but I am surprised in the lack of confidence Allegri has shown in Dybala.. I've only seen the guy play well for us and it's clear he's our most creative player. We also bought him for an awful lot of money. Maybe Allegri is trying to protect him or something, but it's a bit weird that he's on the bench. As a fan as well I can't help but be a little bit disappointed when he isn't starting.

Allegri knows how to work with young players. He eased Morata in last season after his injury, he probably would have eased him in anyways even if he had not gotten injured.

It's a huge risk. Dybala was pretty darn mediocre his first 2 seasons at Palermo, but they still played him to help a potentially very valuable asset grow. We would have shipped him off to god knows where, on loan, with option to buy, etc. We're a big team, so we don't really have the ability to nurture young players like a small club can. We also don't have the advantage that Barca and Real do, of having B teams in the 2nd division. That would really really help our youth.
