I think those of us lucky enough who have actually been around during ADP era have different standards set into our roots and it's subconsciously fucking us up in judgment, like it or not it's true.
Can't expect a professional player today to have any loyalties and sacrifice.. it simply won't happen at this level anymore it's about finances and the amount he can make according to his age. Need to keep.

I remember the ADP days. I also remember there were a couple of times when we were close to losing him because our management didn't want to reward him with a contract, the first time was after his stellar season in 97-98 and that injury against Udinese. I was really worried we were going to lose him. There were always rumors, and they resurfaced again after the 2002 World Cup I think, and again after Calciopoli and our relegation to B. I am infinitely grateful he decided to stick with us.

But yeah, players like Totti, Del Piero, Maldini, Raul and Nesta don''t exist anymore.

ADP and Baggio for me...followed by Davids.
Davids is awesome. He was the epitome of cool, and he's also why I learned to appreciate hard working players more, as long as they actually possess talent and aren't like Sturaro aka The Accidental Footballer, for example. Davids is also the reason why I am a big Vidal fan.

Remember him in serie B? Yeah I'm on about that.

ADP also played in an era where serie A had money, more importantly so did juve...the club was never going to let him go. Complete opposite to today. Sad times.
Had nothing to do with being able to hang on to him because we had money, it was his love for the shirt that's the only reason he stayed when he could have gone time and time again.. 100% of players today esp at his level would walk out of any team relegated to second tier. Especially if they could make the same or more elsewhere if nothing else. It's called character and players lack it today for variety of reasons.

Davids. I'd give my left nut if we had him now..Put a player like that next to a mediocre Locatelli and watch him suddenly resemble Zidane.
Dude from this terrible ass van Damme movie called cyborg used to remind me of him lol

Do you still have those VHS tapes? :p

Platini is an all time great, no doubt, but I was born in 81, and by the time I really got into football/soccer, he had already retired. He retired young though, at only 32 years of age.
Same deal. I’m 3 years younger than you. First memories of footie are 1990 World Cup. Baggio was my favourite player as a little kid. Followed by Del Piero and Zidane later.
