Interesting reading the posts about Dybala's game against Sass. I thought that considering the team around him did so little, he had a good game.

Solid movement, lots of good runs, his usual outstanding touch on passes (I remember one 35 yard diagonal cross that he put directly onto Vitiello in traffic, that should have been in the back of the net... he should have had a couple assists, actually). Couldn't finish himself, that diving header was painful, but the thing is that he's just trying to be too fine with his finish there. He doesn't need to put that perfectly into the corner of the net, the cage was yawning. Give him another year at this level, the game will slow down some more, he will not be missing those.

Still love his work ethic, love when being pulled back by his jersey for 15 yards, he just kept going, despite the clear yellow card. Berardi would have thrown a tantrum -- however anybody chooses to frame it, I believe Domenico has composure issues. I do want him here in the future, but from where I sit, there is a big difference in the maturity level/composure of these two right now.

Also, when Dybala and the team were totally gassed after the 80th minute, that's when he starts dropping back into the midfield to collect and build the play. Total team guy, total leader.

To top it all off, love seeing him wearing the captain's armband. Even if it is a ploy by Zamparini, you don't wear the captain's band for no reason.

One demonstrates more intelligence on the pitch, is better at taking on his man (not nearly so predictable), hits his passes with more accuracy and touch (Berardi hits some quality balls, but they're more firm, more like a line drive), has better close control, better vision, better second foot, more composure, can play either as a SS or as the main forward like at Palermo...

30M, make it so, Beppe! :D

Hadn't read that, thanks for posting. :D

Hey Dybala.

You watch the game today.

You know you want it.

Oh, he wants it.

Hard to sell a product that hasn't been performing for the last 10 games or so.
:agree:

Where's the guy who was saying Dybala was a sure thing and twice as consistent as Berardi? Dybala has 1 goal in his last 10 games, and 3 goals in his last 14 games. Berardi has 8 goals in his last 14 games. :shifty:
You two are relentless on this, yeah? :D

I still rather sign Dybala for sure, I just want us to squeze Palermo as much as possible when we do.
Absolutely.

Oh, me too. He suits us better. I just meant to say that neither of them is a sure thing or a finished product quite yet. It's far too early to tell which will be the better player. I really wouldn't mind signing both. And even loaning Berardi back to Sassuolo for one more year. He's the most promising Italian forward prospect in almost 10 years... it would suck to lose him and have him become a massive talent somewhere else. It would be flat out embarrassing.

Zamp is already starting to eat his words. Now only 3 teams really want him. No mention of price. And only "those who understand football know his potential."

Sounds like no one is offering 40-50 mil
Balotelli says hello -- I would say he was definitely more promising/hyped as a young player than Berardi. That type of physicality screams specimen.

Oh, and one of those teams is Napoli, the other is Inter. :D

Hopefully we can bring both in this summer but Berardi needs another year playing elsewhere imo. No point of him coming here to be 4th choice. He still needs to learn how to play more intelligently, Dybala is miles ahead of him in that department. And learning only comes with playing time. Like others have said the main issue is can he play as a second striker instead of a winger.
Totally agree with all of that. I'm a fan, but I don't think Domenico is ready for this team right now, either -- for a few reasons.

A buy back clause, like what Zaza currently has, would be great. A loan is unlikely (co-owns are done after this year, we'd have to buy him and loan him -- really hard to see that happening).

Really interested to see what goes down.

Zamparini:

"I asked (coach) Iachini to not play Dybala in these last matches, since it's possible that in the next 8-10 days we'll sell the player and I would like to avoid injuries in this delicate phase. There are 3 Italian clubs very interested and two clubs abroad. In Italy thee are Juventus, Inter, Milan with the rossoneri that could try because Berlusconi is trying to relaunch the club, while PSG and Arsenal in Europe with Manchester City that would like to try but first needs to sell because the financial fair play"
