Asley Cole :donedeal: if you want someone young then Nicola Murru (Cagliari, Italian, for free), Benjamin Mendy (Marseille, lets raid Ligue 1 :D), Jetro Willems (PSV, meh) or Cimo Rocker (Werder :klin:)

that would suck. he would have similar wages as Evra but he would be for free (unlike Evra who would cost 2-5M). also, i think Cole is better (currently) and has more years left in him :D
:agree: and that's the important thing

The defence line must be experienced, defenders peak at 32 and we are already full of 25-28 subs, to rest them in unisignificant matches
and take over from them in the future.

Yep.

Pretty worrying when you see those 4, Buffon and Tevez.
This is a stop gap solution, and for now, I'm fine with that. They need to get some younger defenders in there ASAP. They need to accelerate the development of Rugani and whomever else they have in Primavera. In hindsight, their interest in Nastasic makes perfect sense.

One thing is experience and other thing is pensioners.

Our back line should be described as very slow.

It's also very worrying that our bench consists of Ogbonna and Bonucci, two players who shouldn't even be here. So if somebody picks up an injury...

There is a difference between being experienced and being old though.

Hummels at 25 is already experienced. Evra and Barzagli both at 33 is old.

You are well ahead of time, Bonucci and Ogbonna are future proof, the next 5 years are secured, untill they reach the age of the current starters and by the time we do, the Masi+Sorensen generation will be ready!

For a defender 32, 33 is not old, its at his best!

Besides, the only way for Marotta to find a decent LB solution is to wait up untill some of the great ones reach that age and can be free of contract.

It's never too early to start thinking ahead. Never too early. 32, 33 a decade ago, and I would have agreed with you. BUt today's footballer is so much more athletic, so much quicker and stronger, that these defenders of this age group is going to have a hard time keeping up

This d-line can do great things in the CL this year...
    They can.

They can carry out one season, despite their age. Against pace teams they will suffer a lot, though.

Replacing them is the problem as we'll have to change 3 (everyone bar Chiellini) in a near future, which will be horrible thing to see. Neither Bonucci nor Ogbonna should be considered as a future starter in our team, simply because they are not good enough.
