Parma’s comfortable mid-table position has been built on their strong home form. The Gialloblu have picked up 18 points at the Tardini, which have come from five wins, three draws and two defeats. Success on the road, however, has proved harder to come by.
The club began their home campaign on the second day of the season, avenging an opening day defeat to Juventus by beating Chievo 2-1. Giovinco put the hosts in front, before responding to Paloschi’s equaliser by hitting a last-gasp winner.
Roma were next up and Osvaldo's second-half goal was the difference between the two sides - handing Luis Enrique his first win as a Serie A manager.
But the recovery was immediate and Giovinco inspired the hosts to their second win of the season against Genoa. The former Bianconeri frontman established a two-goal cushion before the interval, while Morrone extended the advantage following the break. Palacio reduced the deficit with a last minute consolation.
However a second-half double from Moralez in the space of three minutes earned Atalanta a win in Parma’s next home fixture. Valdes’ gave the hosts a glimmer of hope with a strike ten minutes from time, but the Nerazzurri held on for all three points.
A derby win over rivals Cesena provided the perfect answer to Parma’s stuttering home form. Defensive duo Paletta and Lucarelli struck a goal in each half to secure local bragging rights. And the Gialloblu’s winning run continued, courtesy a 2-0 victory over Udinese with goals from Biabiany and Giovinco.
Parma then went on to draw three successive home fixtures. Palermo emerged unscathed following a goalless shutout, before Lecce played their part in a thrilling 3-3 encounter. Floccari’s opener sparked a resounding recovery from the visitors, who struck three to silence the Tardini. But Pellè clawed a goal back with six minutes to play, and Galloppa broke Giallorossi hearts with a last-gasp equaliser.
And the home faithful were treated to more heart-stopping drama as Catania reversed Parma’s 3-1 lead - established through goals by Modesto, Biabiany and Floccari – to secure a share of the spoils late on in the second half.
The Gialloblu’s last home encounter saw them run out 3-1 winners over Siena, with Biabiany, Valiani and Giovinco getting on the scoresheet.
