they kick ass indeed. the definition of a proper modern metal band, without the cheesiness of your random murican radio rock band (like 5fdp), still digestible for regular people. unfortunately it's hard to find a video when the broadcaster's reporter could actually shut up during the performance, this is the least annoying take i came across:

I was watching basketball right now, there was no reporter there but there is an opportunity to listen to the stadium or turn on an American commentator my first plus to all this shit

If there was ever proof that metal bands can and should perform at a major sporting event this was it. It's a shame that a band like Gojira despite being around for over 20 years only just got this sort of exposure.

Oh, please. France has always pulled out the weird sh*t at Olympic opening ceremonies. I mean, here's the Albertville 1992 Games:

"Woke" didn't even exist as a word like that for another 25 years.

That's France. You do freaky sh*t for your opening act. Every time.

The hilarious part are all the pearl-clutching Christians who say God is being mocked and that they're being discriminated against. As if a Church that did everything in its power to persecute queers, deny their right to exist, and enable their social hatred and murder for centuries pales in comparison.

London is the only Olympics I've been to so I'd be bias for saying I really enjoyed it and not just because I got to sit alongside the Dutch and Argentina field hockey team and getting myself on tv at half time
