Basicly says that Juventus is concern about Gigi's condition and in case that Gigi's health dont get better we might go for Pagliuca for the next six months...

Now... my opinion... I think Gigi is going to be ok, and probably back for the next league game, but getting Pagliuca is not that bad, I mean I know he is old, but I prefer 100 times an old Pagliuca than Belardi

I dont think we really need him.Belardi did a decent job, plus Buffon's injury isnt all serious. This isnt like the time he was out for 6 months.Belardi would do a good job as a make shift keeper IMO.

Juve In Shock Pagliuca Link

Juventus are considering making a shock swoop for 41-year-old goalkeeper Gianluca Pagliuca as a short-term replacement for the injured Gianluigi Buffon, according to the Corriere dello Sport.

Buffon is currently struggling with some worrying back problems, and there are rumours that he may need an operation to solve the dilemma.

This would mean that the 30-year-old would face an extended spell on the sidelines recovering, and there have been suggestions that it could jeopardise his chances of playing at Euro 2008.

Currently Juventus have Emanuele Belardi and Jess Vanstrattan as backups to Buffon, and the former has filled in, in the last two matches against Inter and Livorno.

However, should it be confirmed that Buffon requires an operation and will be out for a long time, Juventus may then be forced to bring in another goalkeeper.

With the transfer window closing tomorrow there is precious little time left to negotiate, therefore Juve are looking at players who can be purchased outside of the window.

One of these is the 41-year-old Gianluca Pagliuca, who has been out of contract since leaving Ascoli at the end of last season. Pagliuca was undoubtedly one of the best goalkeepers in the world during his prime, and he won a Scudetto with Sampdoria in 1991, as well as excelling at Inter Milan and Bologna.

He won 39 caps for Italy, travelled to three World Cups, and was his country’s number one at USA 94’ and France 98’.

Nevertheless at this advanced stage of his career, a move to Juventus would certainly come as a huge shock.

There are fears that Buffon may need a surgery which will keep him off the pitch for long time...
now the question, if the management don't trust Belardi, why did the sign him in the 1st place?!!!

Gigi's injury doesn't look long term. However, if it is, than were better off bringing Mirante back from loan.

If he's operated, wont he out for 6 weeks?.I read that somewhere i think..if the issue over here is Hernia ie.Anyway,i think Belardi and Van Strattan should be given the responsiblity. We arent challengers for the title anymore. All we need to do is be consistent and we'd be safe in the Top 4.Plus id rather have Mirante called back then bring in Pagliuca.Atleast one of our defenders wont go through the risk of slipping on a mouth piece with Mirante around.

I agree about recalling Mirante, but we should act quickly as the transfer window closes tomorrow!
