I am very surprised about Palladino. As much as we all love him, surely there have been more impressive young players, whether Italian or just playing in Italy? Aquilani, Montolivo, Chiellini, Rosina...there are probably more.

My picks

It's funny how not one Inter player is mentioned on that nomination list. Italian champions...heh.

Serie A Football Oscar Nominees Announced

No Inter players have been nominated in any of the awards which will be held on Monday night at the Auditorium of Milano.

The nominees for the football Oscars 2006 have been announced with the surprise coming from the fact that no Inter player or coach has been nominated in any of the awards.

However, for many it might not come as a surprise considering that the Nerazzurri arrived third in Serie A without ever really impressing much throughout the season, except in the Coppa Italia, and were awarded the Scudetto only thanks to the Calciopoli scandal.

Here are the nominees:-

BEST YOUNG PLAYER: De Rossi, Foggia, Palladino
BEST GOALKEEPER: Amelia, Buffon, Peruzzi
BEST DEFENDER: Cannavaro, Nesta, Zambrotta
BEST COACH: Capello, Prandelli, Spalletti
BEST REFEREE: Messina, Paparesta, Rosetti
BEST ITALIAN FOOTBALLER: Cannavaro, Pirlo, Toni
BEST FOREIGN FOOTBALLER: Kakà, Shevchenko, Suazo
BEST FOOTBALLER: Chosen from all the players in the best Italian and best foreign categories
TOP-SCORER AWARD 2006: Luca Toni
