Well, to enlighten you about this issue, America isn't some big unified nation of zombies in obedience to the one holy George W Bush as some Arab leaders might have you believe.

There are reasons why maps like this are all over the Internet:

Anyway, I just want to show you how the American people's knowledge about the region is horrible:

"In the Palestinian uprising of the past two years, 84 children were killed by one side before the other side killed a child. Were these 84 children killed by:

Obviously, this factual question was chosen to investigate the impact of disinformation around the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, but it is nevertheless a factual question, with a factual answer. Someone who knows the correct answer but prefers that such bitter and suppressed truths not be highlighted in public may rankle at this question and may call it biased, for it challenges the media purveyed disinformation that the Palestinians have been the main source of the terror against civilians. But the question itself is not biased, as those who do not know the answer will simply say so. The results measured bias in the mass media coverage when 13 percent of respondents (more than those who correctly gave "the Israeli Army" as his or her answer), assumed it had to be the Palestinians rather than answering "don't know." (Retro Pollsters tell people it is better to answer "don't know" than to guess the answers to the factual questions.)

I reread this three times and still couldn't make heads or tails of this statement. Maybe it's being translated from another language? Because it doesn't even quite grammatically make sense in English.

What I gather from this is that some multiple choice question was asked with four possible answers. We don't know who was asked, what context it was asked, and what were all the responses. But we do know that 13 percent replied with one of the four answers. But theres some gibberish in there about biases and answering "don't know" that I cannot make out.

I'm kind of lost on this point and its relevancy too. And I'm really not trying to be stubborn here. I just honestly can't make sense of the points that are trying to be made here. In fact, I can't quite even figure out what those points are.

Particularly since it was bin Laden's frustration with toppling Middle Eastern governments in power that he turned his attention to murder civilians in the U.S. -- basically to spark retaliation strikes from the U.S. in the Middle East to force rulerships like that in Saudi Arabia to pick sides ... and thus put their legitimacy in their homelands in a trap over their perceived alliances.

It wasn't about "sending messages". He could have used online greeting cards for that. It was about forcing political leaders in the Middle East to choose sides over allowing the U.S. military on their soil or not in retaliation against Bin Laden's crew ... with the overall goal of collapsing the existing political structures in Middle East nations so that the likes of the Taliban could locally gain an upper hand.

Bin Laden has largely been at war against the established, and (certainly in his eyes) corrupt, political regimes in the Middle East (e.g., Saudi Arabia). Realizing that the U.S. was playing a remote political role in propping them up and keeping them in power, his strategy shifted to goading the U.S. in attacks in the Middle East to force the issue. By forcing the hand of these regimes to choose sides, he hoped he could either crumble their Western alliances or cause their political rulership to collapse due to public outrage in these Middle Eastern nations.

Its hard to really speak about the conflict down there, knowing that people from different countrys have so many opinions about it..
