Dear All,

It's my pleasure to introduce my fellow countryman SHOTA ARVELADZE;
Most (As well as I) Consider him as one of the Best "Veteran" Forwards in europe;

The Sad part of his career is a move to scotland... where his talant was buried... I guess he desereved a bit more (Moreover I think most Talents in Scotland are being "killed")

Shota Arveladze (born February 22, 1973 in Tbilisi) is a Georgian professional football player who currently plays for AZ Alkmaar in the Netherlands, having moved there on a free transfer from Rangers after the 2004-05 season.

Before coming to Rangers, he played at Dinamo Tbilisi, Trabzonspor, and Ajax Amsterdam, and finished at least one season as the top goal scorer at all three. He also scored the 3000th goal in the SPL. When he led Trabzonspor in goals in 1995-96, he also led the Turkish Premier Super League, making him the second non-Turk to date to lead that league in goals after Tarik Hosic 1983-84.

Arveladze joined Rangers from Ajax for £2 million in 2001. He is also a regular in the Georgian national team, and his nation's all-time leading scorer. His twin brother Archil also plays international football for Georgia.

    I don´t think he has much to offer to Juventus. He should retire in his hometown club IMO.

    yeah I just said an absurd thing:)

    I think he could've played at much higher level ... But Scotlad is the worst place for a player to evolve...

    What a goal, he indeed is doing great at AZ, if I am not wrong, AZ is also doing good.
    I really like the team, to bad they lost their CL spot last season due to those rediculous play-offs in Holland.

    Ah yeah, the play-offs :lazy: And then Stupid Ajax wasted their spot on Copenhagen :wallbang:

    I'm confident AZ can get into the Champions League this time around though :strong: They're stronger than they were last season, more resilient.

    If they beat PSV this Saturday they might even still have a distant shot at the title

    Yeah, he's got some predatory instincts :)

    Yet for a 34 year old attacker (even in holland) : Last season second best scorer in Holland 21 goals: Shota Arveladze (AZ Alkmaar)

    Also in this season getting even more goals I think :)

    I doubt the title :( But Second place very realistic ... lets cross fingers for SHOTA scoring against PSV (maybe two:))

    P.S. Did u guys watch the goal I posted ... this was the First goal of the game against Sparta on Jan 27 2007 ... Look at the Van Gaal's face:))))

    I just noticed, he is a capitain and a leader of AZ... So I think , considering his form, AZ's position in League... He could be nominated as one of the Best Veterans in Europe... Do u agree?

    On that note: Van Gaal (after the match) said something like "I wanted to bow to him after he scored that goal but he didn't look my way so I had to settle for a regular congratulation after the match. His loss" :D

    really?:))) He he ...

    I think He was so emotional ... only remebered the crowd.... and also teammates hugged him:)

    Van gaal and Shota probably need some more time to get "closer"... its hard for an old player to get very close relationship with new coaches...
