The overwhelming consensus of the best, ,most important and most loved player in juve's history is Gaetano Scirea... Not too mention hes undoubtedly the most respected juventino amongst our opponents fans
I subscribe to that notion : http://www.juventuz.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=855&postid=728851#post728851

Now you did have me search for the uomo di gomma on the internet, and I found out it was Giampiero Combi. Never knew he was called like that.

And your right, im not a Torinese and my base is the opinion of just 3 old juventini...but that doesnt disqualefy their opinion. They are knowedge people about football. And saw Boniperti, Bettega and Scirea....
Im not discounting the views of these people... on the contrary I absolutely love sitting with the older guys in the park in turin listening to their stories of our past masters... I owe them alot and you are lucky to have them...

My point was purely the way you wrote it... You stated it as fact, where in general i would say the opinion is much more in the way of scirea.... Definately within turin and most cities ive visited in italy... Hes also a much bigger name on foreign soil than the likes of bettega and boniperti...

However they are all greats, so theres no need to argue about it.

Also, the Institution as always given preference at Boniperti over Scirea as our most emblematic player.
Well they had no choice in that what with scirea's untimely death... he had much more to give as player when he was taken let alone as a figurehead

Ah... the rubber man... The one man i truly wish i had been able to see week in week out... The things i have read, the stories i have been told about him.... I would dearly love to see a couple of handfuls of his matches... But then ive had the pleasure of watching the likes of baresi, scirea and zico etc etc live so i cant really complain...

Go for a walk around torino and ask the old guys sitting in the park or outside the street carts... Or sit next to some at delle alpi
they'd all be torino fans :p

(sorry cheap shot, but i had to)

maybe i dont actually have any idea the amount of juve fans in turin, just going on from the amount of people in attendance

have you ever compared juves attendances to toro's though....

At last count they have only had a higher average for 1 year in the last 40... the average is that juves is some twice that of toro's every year...

For the record on the streets its roughly 50 / 50 with juve having a slight edge

any proof shadowfax?

your probably telling the truth, but i'd perfer to see the proof in that.

For attendances look at http://european-football-statistics.co.uk/index1.htm for the figures for the last 45 years or so...

As for the split in torino... I havent proof perse, its experience of spending over a third of my life there... Though there was a poll in corriere last year that confirmed it

26,000 average is still pretty bad, that almost half ours, despite the dreadful season we've had.
Im not saying our attendance's are not poor, we all know they are... Im purely pointing out that the idea that most torinese support toro over juve is complete fallacy... mainly generated by people on forums that have never stepped foot in italy let alone torino itself.... It is not and has never been true

Well the same can also then be said that Juve fans have never outnumbered Toro fans.

But anyway Kaiser is going to moan at me for taking this thread off-topic, I dont mean to :(

Dont see how you come to that conclusion....

On the public side of it... eg .at the stadium juve have on average massively out numbered toro throughout allmost all of both teams history....

Non match going City seperation wise , it has its swings but you have to say that juve has more across history...

But then the idea of local support and equal share or the supposedly smaller team having more is common throughout the world....

People also forget how big a team toro were... and the simple fact that toro are the only team in torino who can truely say without question that at one point in their lifetime they had the best team on the planet... Juve cant say that... We had teams that were great and could lay a claim to saying they were the best but we have never had a team that was widely accepted around the globe without question as the very best the game had to offer... Toro have

You mean the Torino team they had before the plane crash? (I believe it was 1937) although I am probably wrong.

Its also a bit misleading now because of Toro being in Serie B, its expected they'd have a lost of average attendancies, its sad we couldnt compare Juve and Toro's next season :(
