Oh come on you're still at it? He was in a central position going towards goal. Any player would have done that as he opened up the Inter defence.

Going by your mentality, you can say that DP's career crushing injury was all his fault and he deserved it.

Exactly my point, Zizou. He was in a central position, but he wasn't going towards goal. He wasn't exactly lining up for a shot you know. He was indecisive and hogged on to the ball. You just know that someone is going to kick you down when you're in that position.

And about Del Piero: he didn't hog the ball, but went after a loose ball, which is an entirely different case. False analogy, Zizou.

Still Zlatan's fault for hogging the ball there. The longer you hold in that position, the bigger the risk will get. Materazzi had to do something and we all know he's rather clumsy when it comes to things like this.
I really doubt you have seen this tackle life. Materazzi was in no way waiting for the tackle, he just saw his opportunity and took it.

I saw it live. It was a horrendous tackle and should have been a straight red. Nonetheless Zlatan was very slow and indecisive and was basically giving Materazzi the oppurtinity to do so.

You know that someone is going to TRY and pull you down, not what Materazzi did. He was going towards goal so why shouldn't he hold on to the ball and try his luck like 99% of the players would have done?

For me they're the same cos they both happened during a football game. Zlatan was trying to free himself to shoot towards goal, DP was going for the loose ball to shoot towards goal. What's the difference? Both players were trying to score.

Fact is Zlatan was already free. Like I said before, he didn't really know what to do with the ball and just hold on to it. He wasn't going for goal or anything. Del Piero knew what he was going to do and even did so. DP's injury was unlucky. Zlatan's is stupidity.

may be football rules should be changed, so that no player is allowed to keep the ball just to protect the players. Arsenal will have a great advantage as they play often one touch football:fero:

I can't believe somebody would even suggest that Zlatan was at fault and that he hogged the ball. To me there was two things in Zlatan's ming at the time:
1. draw the foul just outside the box in center or
2. dribble center of pitch where inter defenders will get nervous and Zlatan can either continue the dribble or make a pass.

Zlatan usually does hold up the ball then make superb unexpected passes, if you watch many Juve games, you will notice this. And at the time of this tackle I didn't really see an immediate option for him to pass to.

Blaming Zlatan for his own injury is sheer stupidity and obviously shows some sort of bias against the player. He was running at the Inter defense when Materazzi came crashing in with two legs, clearly trying to do some damage by following through with the second leg. From my time following this game I have never heard anybody realistically say it was a player's fault for his own injury when another player did the actual damage...that is like going out for a drive and being hit by a drink driver only for someone to say it was YOUR fault for driving that night, even though you did absolutely nothing wrong. The notion is just too dumb to even warrant a response and is obviously just another attempt to bash Ibrahimovic...doesn't make any sense at all.

False analogy, Andy.

Let me give you a correct analogy: you go out for a drive and you make a little mistake: you drive straight through an orange light. Then a drunk driver crashes into to you.

That's what I mean. It's not entirely Zlatan's fault, but he still is partially to blame.
