hmm that was a suprise, am glad though seeing as arsenal was on hot trail for him, and i really dont think arsenal need him. real madrid seem to be over doing it a bit. ronaldo, robinho, baptista (i believe he's changed to a striker now), owen, raul...thats 5 world class strikers that would be in the first team anywhere in the world that are competing against each other. i dont think that can be good for real madrid.
i reckon owen will leave for sure though. altough he's had alot of critisism last season i think he did a pretty good job for those games that he did play, so it'll be interesting to see where he goes now

Real Announce Robinho Deal!

Just a few hours after agreeing a deal for Sevilla striker Julio Baptista, Real Madrid have announced that Robinho is also on his way to the club.
The Brazilian has agreed a five-year contract with the Merengues, and the move comes after weeks of talks with his club Santos.
Earlier this week it looked as if the move may not materialise, with the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) refusing to sanction the transfer as Real had not agreed to pay his £28.75 million buyout clause.
But a club statement read: "The player has imposed his unshakeable will to play for Real Madrid, rejecting offers from other clubs that have been interested in him in the last weeks and the hard position of the leaders of Santos."
The player will officially join Real on August 25 as Santos want him to play some matches for them before he leaves for Europe.
Neither club have confirmed a fee but it is thought to be in the region of £20 million

A very reliable source tells me that they'll be playing a 2-4-4 variant this season. If my contact is to be believed the team will look something like this, it is however subject to change of course as Real could yet make moves for Reyes, Rooney and/or Adriano in which case they would play without a goalkeeper and sacrifice one of the two defenders for two more attackers.

Are you kidding? Real's own fans were wanting him to play instead of Raul! He did a great job for them and they know it, if anything he is the one striker they'll want to keep hold of the most, I bet even Raul will be closer to an exit (of course he wont leave) then Owen is. He recieved very little critism at all, the only thing was that he said he wanted to play more games thats the only reason.
I'm not arguing that Owen deserves to be shown the door because he definitely outplayed Raul and given more playing time could possibly have been better than Ronaldo too, but think logically, who are Real more likely to part with? Their long-time golden boy in Raul, perhaps the best striker of this decade in Ronaldo, or Michael Owen? Is me believing that the answer to that question is quite obvious stupid or..?

New Real Madrid signing Julio Baptista has insisted that he never saw himself playing for the Merengues’ great rivals Barcelona.
The Brazilian completed his move from Sevilla on Friday and will be presented today, but the Catalans’ interest in the player has been no secret.
"At no moment have I seen myself with the shirt of Barcelona," he told Radio Marca.
He added that he is relishing his future at Real, and that he does not mind where the club choose to play him.
"I believe that this is a club that is going to contribute many things to me," he continued.
"It does not matter where (he plays). The important thing is to help to the maximum and to be playing and I will do it where the trainer tells me."
